Had a messaged left on the phone from a local school about one of my birds i lost on Tuesday trying to break him. I went straight off to pick him up and to be honest he doesnt look good. Hes weak and looks like the crows have had a go at him. Well hes in a box by the radiator with corn and water with honey in. Hes had a little peck at the corn, but is there anything else i can do??? I will give him until the morning to improve and if not i will sort him.

Thanks

Any knock to it mate that are visible? has it lost much weight? Pigeons pick up very quickly. They are tough little cookies :-)

As others say, a little patience.  :)

Make sure its easily digested stuff you feed, mine seemed to go for maize, I was OK with that as so easy to see that its being eaten, plus some wheat, barley etc. but leave out protein, might not be able to digest that yet. Stick to honey & water, tepid rather than freezing cold, easier for the bird to drink especially if throat is dry & parched through no access to water during time it was out in wild.

They are very hardy creatures. You'll notice big difference come the weekend.

i had a bird handed to me by a neighbour that was on its last legs  i reported it and was told by its owner ( a very well known essex fancier) to feed it watered down banana through a syringe  believe me when i say this bird was skin and bone sitting hunched up with its feathers blown and eyes closed and i fully expected it to be dead by the morning but within 2 days it was eating small seeds then corn and went on to make a full recovery :)  since then ive used banana if any bird is that down/flown out and its always worked for me  have any other fanciers used bananas or more to the point why do they seem to be so effective in bringing birds around?  i know they are easily digestible which obviously helps but maybe they also have ingredients which helps them recover  whats your thoughts
