I have been surfing all the sites to get as much info while I build my loft. I have come across some info saying you must keep your loft between 10-30 degrees. How can I keep a well vented loft at 10 degrees in the middle of winter ?

Do any of you heat your lofts ?  :-/

leave it m8 let it be natural,as long as the draught cant get them they will be fine.

heat will only make the temp fluctuate which aint any use to humans nevermind birds.

I personally feel a spell of sub zero temperatures does nothing but good for our pigeons.

totaly agree, it kills of many germs etc.

Heating is realy only of benefit during raceing to help reduce the humidity and maintain a dry atmosphere within the loft.

Likewise, -3 when I fed mine this morning before going to work, sputnik trap left open so snow round the opening. The drinkers sometimes freeze so I carry out some warm tapwater. It seems to do no harm.. I'm even having problems with the hens pairing up and laying. (they're on a strict 1 ounce or less per day with high barley content)

I agree sub zero temperatures kills a lot of problems that could be in the loft. If I could aford it I would have under floor heating not to heat the loft but to dry any damp at this time of year. Turn it on for 30 mins each damp morning just to dry the floor.
