p charlton Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 we race south and train the young the line of flight is it ok to go of the line ie north
gulkie Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 dont be afraid to train in any direction, then they will know where they are ,wherever the wind may take them.
philipchambers1989 Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 i raced north last year and most of the time the youngests went south with an south rd friend of mine
marmite Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 train them from any direction homing is an in built ability u cant teach them that
Tony C Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 Confidence for me plays a big part in sprinting pigeons, training on the line of flight brings about familiarity which in turn instils confidence. If I were distance minded I’d train them around the clock.
marmite Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 ahh im not sprint minded shortens are training tosses for nationals
pigeonscout Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 I think the more you train on the line of flight the straighter their line becomes
Guest Jargre- Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 I think the more you train on the line of flight the straighter their line becomes tend to agree although training them from all points gets them thinking.
Shortcut Lofts Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 I like to train mine in a 20 mile circle of my lofts a few times during the season, North South East and West. Does them no harm at all. They are well trained on the line of flight first though. I prefer to do it this way as it makes the birds think, and when its done they are up in kits of 5 - 6 birds, no big batch. SL
grizzal Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 we will be racing south rd this year,so there first few tosses will be on line of flight to about 10miles,then if back to work they will go where ever I work, and that could be east, west, north and south up to 30miles
wilkins Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 i think sprint birds are better trained on line, and all ybs to form a habbit but my older birds go all over mainly against the wind
adam owen Posted February 12, 2010 Report Posted February 12, 2010 train on line of flight cant see any point in going the oppissit way start at 5miles build up to 30miles then bring back to 15miles and stay there
