they're good for warning when the Bop's are around!

And they are also crafty buggers, dont leave the hut open for them anyway,  :) they will be away with the eggs/chicks etc.  :)

I like to hear them craw in the frosty mornings for some strange reason. Very wise and clever birds. There are hundreds around our place and they soon let you know if there's any trouble around. They give the buzzards a hard time and they hate any bird of prey.

But they also like eggs/chicks,  ;)

HAD A BIG CARRION CROW IN THE LOFT WHEN I CAME BACK FROM A TOSS, IT HAD A BIG SQUAB ON THE DECK RIPPING IT TO BITS, AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A CAT THAT WAS IN. THE DOO WERE GOING DAFT. I THOUGHT MY SEASON WAS OVER, BUT NO I WON ON THE SATURDAY. ;D ;D ;D

The only time I have seen this was when the Guy next door had a European Eagle Owl. The first we knew of it was when there were crows, jackdaws and goodness knows what else diving down at the Owl. The air was full of birds and the noise was incredible.

This lasted about an hour, I supose, but all the time the Owl was there the birds would have a go at it. The laugh was that they were brave enough to dive bomb the Owl but thet never got too close. A couple of weeks later the Owl got his talons into a chicken. The neighbour was trying to get it off and was calling to me to help him. Some hopes. There was no way on this Earth that the Owl was going to let go. In the end I killed the chcken and let the Owl get on with it.

So you may be lucky and have an Eagle Owl nearby. If that is the case you will certainly not be troubled by other birds of prey. I wish I had one living near me.
