Could anyone tell me why oh why Unikon manager and East Coast Software are not compatible with each other.

Just wasted two days on this as ECS wiped off my data in three clocks

I beleive you may be referring to the FSS program from East Coast Software.

This is a package for doing Club / Federation results.

When you assign rings and data to ETS clocks use ONLY the manufacturers software supplied. i.e. Unikon with Unikon, Benzing with Benzing, Bricon with Bricon, etc....

Only use FSS to upload the fanciers race arrivals from the clocks AFTER you have evaluated their clocks through the clubsystem in the usual manner.

DO NOT put all the pigeon detals / assign rings or Syncronise the clock using the FSS program. Otherwise, Yes you will wipe out ALL the data from the clock previously entered.

I would strongly advise you use FSS for resulting purposes only and stick with the Unikon software which is designed for use with the clock for inputting data and assigning rings.

Unikon and Benzing are constantly trying to meet the demands of the fanciers and to help make life easy for them in this modern age of technology.

ETS clocks can time many pigeons in a few seconds and inputting all the different, ring on, ring off times and arrival information manually into a resulting package is an administration nightmare for those who are left to do it. Mistakes can happen, results are labour incentive and take considerable time to produce.

To make it simple and at the touch of a button and to produce an unlimited number of pages pigeon result in a matter of minutes, both Unikon and Benzing supplied East Coast Software with the knowledge for them to enhance their resulting software to do this.

Many clubs with all fanciers on ETS can now produce instant club results within 5 minutes.

John,

Have you updated to 3.7, members are having a lot of trouble syncronising clocks apart updating to 3.7.

Normally if ECS finds data in the clock which is not in its data base it will flash an alert asking if you want the bird deleted.

From what I've heard you have to delete the clock and re-import it after updating before you can syncronise.

Hi Mick

Yes running all the latest software. When the ECS software locates the clock in the base station it locates the clock number, and this happened on more than one occassion, and tehn when you press import birds from clock tab, it deleted all the data off the clock. It was ok for one clock as I had the data backed up but on two clocks there was no back up ( I never did the original assignment) and I had to re e enter the data and re assign using Unikon manager.

Also if you assign using ECS Unikon manager will not import the data into its system.

This should be made clear

Is this because you are changing clocks previously on ECS to Unikon Manager.

I do not touch Unikon Manager at all, all ring assignment and results are done through ECS. All the ETS in my Club are owned by the Club and our membership is limited to this number (25) so I dont get the problem of mixed ring assignment programs.

John,

Been there and done it.

What I do now is  1: All birds are managed through Unikon or Benzing Club Systems

2: Clocks are manualy added to FSS

3: FSS is used to transfer the races on to the Unikon Club Base.

Everything works fine following the above.

Works for me Homer.  Keeping it as simple as possible.

We have used FSS with Unikon and have done so for 3 seasons now and find that it is excellent,, we don't use the unikon club manager at all. When you say that it has wiped the memory of 3 clocks,, have you tried synchronising them again?? I think that you are not supposed to work both Unikon club manager and FSS together, it has to be either one or the other as far as I'm aware :-/

Have you tried ringing Bill Pearson at ECS his number should be on your FSS disc.. he will sort you out no problem ;)

We have used FSS for all members details, birds, distances and racepoints.

Is FSS not supposed to be used instead of Unikon club manager :-/

don't think they are supposed to be worked together.

FSS  won't find any data on the clock if the data was added by using Unikon club, all it will find is the clock number

Hi

The only advantage I can see with Unikon Race Manager is

when adding Y/Bs will add from/to where as FSS must be entered

individually. Why use both
