hope this isnt a silly question freind of mine a tippler flyer. he flys gordon hughs strain of birds he can go back 38 years with them the famliy was started with three blue birds and has gone on from there. for some reason a  an old breeding pair has bred a young bird with a white flight under the main tail feathers any body now the reason for this if there is one he ask me to put it on pb thought it would be a good thread :-/all the years hes had them they have never bred anything other than blues thanks for any replies :)

in racing circles,this is a fad with some fanciers,they say it is a sign of agood racer/breeder.ibreed a few of these my self,and to me it is something that crops up in my family of birds,but it has still to be proovedto me of any particular capabilities :-/ cheers

I was of the opinion you tend to get more white with inbreeding. Only what I've heard.

 

sounds good think they are geting a bit close now and they are getting on a bit :)

a lot of tipplers have the odd white tail feather or white flights, it does not mean they are not pure bred, i have seen loads of gordon hughes birds with white tails

Just a throw back. Somewhere along the breeding line there has been a bird with white in tail. Some white is just a lack of pigment but there are other genetic traits that cause white i.e. bronze. You also get a ressesive white just like ressesive red it covers the true colour of the bird. Is there any colour on the feather at all and what is the quill colour.
