les Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 Didn't think you were being serious Les....there are all kinds of controversial efforts to save wolves, spotted owls, blackbears, salmon....the list goes on and on....the point is the loss of a pigeon that is not a threatened species is not comparable. forgot to add hawks are no longer a threatend species in this country ,but they still protect them
Guest numpty01 Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 killing hawks in usa is classed as misdemenor not some great crime as it is here

Guest numpty01 Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 i have just been and looked at this and its misterminor not big crime this was in 2009 night mate
blaz Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 My point from the beginning of this thread was to look for ways to fix your problem....I started by pointing out that having a chuckle over the picture of a dead hawk was counterproductive to doing that. ok since birds of prey over hear have been protected their numbers have gone up considerably. so there for reduce the numbers by killing them. as we kill deer over hear up north for the damage that they do to trees . yet the hawk population go,s unchecked. it,s not just racing birds but your garden song birds . then their is the damage that hawks falcons do on shooting estates again costing thousands of pounds . how do you think kids feel when they see birds getting ripped apart in their garden or city centre. such is the problem
NW USA Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 i have just been and looked at this and its misterminor not big crime this was in 2009 night mate take a second a google charge for killing protected species, one of the first hits will say "man chrarged with felony for shooting wading birds"
Larry Lucas Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 do you really come from usa????? I am from the USA, and my feelings about BOP are the same as you lads. One phrase: "Swedish Goshawk Trap" -- a "gift" to pigeon fanciers if they quietly use them and don't draw attention to themselves. I am not advocating breaking the law, but sometimes enough is enough. I had a friend in Minnesota who used them as aviaries on his loft. After all, our pigeon strays must be trapped ;D ;D ;D Do as the Scots have done and petition your primary government to revisit the issue of protecting birds of prey. They kill millions of threatened songbirds every year, and of course, hundreds of thousands of dollars in personal property: namely, pigeons. The current status of birds of prey is a testimony to the stupidity of misguided souls who don't have a clue about these devils with wings. Sorry, but this is one subject that boils my blood.
Guest numpty01 Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 take a second a google charge for killing protected species, one of the first hits will say "man chrarged with felony for shooting wading birds" yes wadeing bird as over here if we shot swan then hello prison there are lots birds ie wadeing that we cannot shoot or kill but the subject is hawks which are protected above anyother birds to the exstreme
valteng Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 well on my opinion.... it is ecosystem.... thats what we called balnace of nature.... PEACE!!!! ehehe

PEACE!!!! ehehe theres no balance of nature when they come and pester you day in day out!!! and when you get a strike at least once a week, its beyond a joke! have lost 4 to the *expletive removed* already this year, and that before racing started.

Blue Chequer Pied Posted April 16, 2009 Author Report Posted April 16, 2009 well on my opinion.... it is ecosystem.... thats what we called balnace of nature.... PEACE!!!! ehehe If a farmer's lambs or chickens are taken by a fox is that just part of an eco-system? Difference being that they can protect their property and take action as necessary. If the RSPB hype were to be believed re eagle owls being a danger to cats and dogs etc ( I have even heard of ridiculous claims they would take babies from prams, but this is just the RSPB persecuting one raptor to protect the ones they want to protect) do you think cat and dog owners would accept it as an eco-system...... No i dont think so. So my question is why is it acceptable for these creatures to take our property yet we are powerless to protect them. People rightly feel agrieved by this and lets not forget whether we like it or not some people make their living from racing pigeons in one way or another. This leads me to ask the question what makes these people different from farmers because i dont know and I feel we should have the right to protect our livestock from threat, afterall idont think that foxes out number sparrowhaks I genuinely feel it would be the other way round. As a result of this the validity of 'protecting' something that is so over populous is ridiculous. In Africa there are now programmes in place to control the population of elephants in some regions because they have been over-protected and their increased numbers are causing problems and an imbalance in the eco-system. A bit like our 'eco-system' where the songbirds are very much in decline. So you know what you can do with your idea of 'PEACE' Paul.
