I just come across these pictures on the RSPB forum, of a female sparrowhawk eating what appears to be another sparrowhawk, believed by the twitchers to be a 1st year male.

 

Is the worm in the foodchain beginning to turn? Would cessation of racing and flying our birds out in the U.K. for just 1 season see more widespread acts of cannibalism such as this?

 

Food for thought.

just goes to show how many of these birds there are , there running out of territory and now eating themselves beautifull site indeed  :) wonder if this bird likes the taste of it own best ;)

tink this is to many in one area dominent one kills the lesser happens in other bird types

Yes they don't need to cull over population as nature will control the balance, just more propaganda from the powers that be
