Guest gladdo Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 this is the worst seeing this in pigeon racing .. the birds are up against it as their so many hawks etc out there waiting on a dinner...i had an 09 big youngster and blood all over it and back tore of it but because this youngster so big it must not of been able to pull it down ... i have the bird but its off for rest of season...still training now to build confidence back nd he is fine now.... although still very wary off anything that moves in air... traps very good to get in loft immediately where it feels safer...mikey
jimmy white Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 sorry to hear about this jimmy hope the bird pulls through for the lad. thanks bakes, the bird will pull through, but wont race again, but the young lad gennuinly broke down, and was hard to console,, i really felt for him ,i was very annoyed at the damage to the bird ,,and the lad >

Guest Owen Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 I know that this is not a bidding war. And I don't want to get into the business of saying we have it worse than some one else. Here near Pontypool the peregrines are a nightmare. They are at it every day. Day in and day out. In the immeadiate area from where I live there are three. The parents and one young one. They live at The Slip, the site of a rock fall that happened a long time ago. It overlooks the whole area and they have a wonderful view of the valley. So the chances of exercising or training the birds without them noticing is not even slightly possible. In this Eastern Valley there are a heck of a lot of pigeons and Pigeon Fanciers. So I think you get the picture, the Falcons are a serious menace. But I am willing to bet there are places as bad as this and perhaps worse. And before you tell me off Roland, I have birds that are well salted. I have no idea as to whether anyone else does the same, but I whish that everyone would do it and then we might get some peace. Eventually.
Guest bluemorning Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 birds of prey do drink warter its just that they get most of the fluid needed through eating kills will drink if they need to, save your salt for cooking
abbeypap Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 hi its not just the U.K that has bop just found one sitting on the young birds trap there around every morning and afternoon by the way I live in THAILAND what do you mean by salted Our neighbour found one of our pigeons this morning in her garden, two steps over the fence from the back of our loft. Usual picture feathers all around and no flesh left on the back of the head, neck or down its back. Shame she was a nice wee bird.
