Guest JonesyBhoy Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Barely had the doos out since racing stopped.. as not to feed the raptors.. So today was a nice day, had a bit of time, so i thought ill get them out.. Flew not too bad and had not long landed.. just happily pecking about on the landing board.. when all of a sudden they freeze.. And here's this f'in massive Osprey as casual as you like gliding over the allotment.. its as low as ive ever seen one.. was only maybe 40/50 ft..!!! Talk about squeeky bums... all the doos froze except a wee red hen '53', last seen heading for Gretna..!! Dont know who was more scared.. as with the size of this thing there was more chance it picking me up and taking me away for lunch.. So if its not percy or the sparrowhawk.. its a dam Osprey..!!!!

Guest JonesyBhoy Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 It must be an escaped one as ospreys head for Africa in late October :-/ Id never ever seen one till this year.. and im assuming its the same one i keep seeing... comes up the river, generally pretty high.. and heads on toward Loch Lomond.. always on its own.. Saw it catch a fish up the Loch inthe Summer.. was awesome holding its self upright against the wind then diving in.. awesome..!!
Guest Freebird Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Think you'll find it's a buzzard and at this time of year they'll have a go at your birds if they are on the loft. Seen them dive at woodpigeon decoys, He He!
