883girl Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 I downloaded a trial from Adobe Photoshop last night and can I just say OMG. I did not have a clue what to do. I felt really fick!! ;D I have ordered the Coral Photoshop X2 so hopefully I will be able to learn what to do quite quickly. I took a picture of a pigeon on a V perch and tried to cut the pigeon out of the picture. All worked fine but because it was on a perch it kept on cutting the perch with it and no matter how hard I tried I could not get it right. Where do you get the pictures that you paste the pigeon onto? I was thinking just finding a sky pic will do and then just paste it on. Will have a go this weekend and if it looks ok I will post on here. Wish me luck, I gonna need it. ;D ;D Good Luck! ;D

Guest slugmonkey Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 I just use photos I take to build these picts Pictures of sky, swimming pool water, lakes or streams or try finding a close up of the paint on a hotrod car ( flame Job ) for some things these cameras that cost 100 bucks are ok BUT if you are going to do any SERIOUS eye picts theses slr digitals are the way to go thats not to say that you cant do them with a cheaper cam it is just easier and more consistent using the slr When using one of these cameras you will notice they are a LOT faster than a regular digital camera the best thing about digital is the editing when you are shooting picts TAKE A LOT it is easy to download them then delete the bad ones then save the good ones to a DVD as well as the memory of your computer my camera will give me 256 large high res picts on a 2 gig card and I will usally fill this in a couple of hours I often carry a spare battery and my laptop I can download onto the laptop in about 8-10 minutes so at family functions I shoot 500 pictures in a few hours of these I will get 100 or so that are good pictures 20 that are great and 1-2 stellar ones that wind up in frames at grandmas or on the wall somewhere You might also try taking a class to learn how to compose a picture ( the best pictures are usally ones that you know what they should look like before you take them ) Cameras are like any other mechanical object the expensive ones are WAY better than the cheap ones and when you get one of these new slr digitals a little Kodak pocket digital will NEVER be good enough again !!!
Okitsme Posted November 16, 2007 Author Report Posted November 16, 2007 No no one laugh, I sort of gave it a rough go to see how it is done. I dont think it is that bad for my first go, very obviously not professionally done. ;D There are quite a few things I need to figure out how to do. So here you are, my first go. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D. If anyone wants to give me some pointers, you are more than welcome. Regards David

Regards David Great first attempt, did you use the free hand tool, what back ground did you start off with, Post a before and after, better if you use a sharp background, easier to crop Have them standing on a flat surface not a perch
Okitsme Posted November 16, 2007 Author Report Posted November 16, 2007 Will try and find something for them to pose on. Just took a quick pic to try out on. This is the original pic tho. Gonna get something that is totally blue and stand them on that. Regards David

Regards David Brilliant attempt, blue is the best, but any sharp back ground is easy, it's easier to crop and cut etc a solid back ground and also cut back on clouds by puting the pigeon in a frame, I like using an oval one
DOVEScot Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 Had another go. WHAL!!! GETTING BETTER YOU HAVE DARKENED THE BLUE IN THE BACKGROUND, WHICH HIGHLIGHTS THE BIRD MORE, YOU ARE WELL ON YOUR WAY JUST GET THE FEET ON A FLAT SURFACE SO YOU GET THEM IN AS WELL. DO NOT TRY TO FILL THE PICTURE WITH THE BIRD WHEN YOU TAKE IT, IT'S EASIER TO CROP IN THE PHOTO GALLERY MAKE A PHOTO BOX JUST FOR TAKING PICS, MESH THE TOP FOR NATURAL LIGHT
Guest slugmonkey Posted November 17, 2007 Report Posted November 17, 2007 KEEP BUILDING LAYERS !!! save all images as layers and then stack them this is a GREAT start learn to use the lasso tool and to isolate a particular color awesome first attempt my first looked like someone cut a commie out of a newspaper artice and pasted it over a page of the Ganus catalog !!!!
