I have heard there is a bit of unrest in Holland with regards to the lifetime rings seems they are too bulky and a good number of eggs are being smashed in the nest.  :o :o

What is a lifetime ring?  :-/

Its a combination ring that the bird has put on as a baby and remains with it for the rest of its life, but it also contains a microchip for the use with ETS

Your right in saying its a combination ring that stays on the bird for life but it doesnt contain a microchip, these are only added by the fanciers that use ETS.They will be less bulkier than say having the present Unikon ring  on one leg and a life ring on the other leg as its now all in one.

got to be honest

i have the two sorts here on my 09 ybs the dutch and the belgium type and the belgium ones are of a better design no edges like the dutch ones

the dutch ones the chip clips into to groves  on the outside of the ring on the same basis has the bricon chip ring  ,but the belgium ones the chip slides in to the actual ring more secure has i see it

i saw these life time rings last night on jos thone's birds he was at a moot at nottingham they dint look to bulky to me the ets just clips into them so its a life time ring with removable ets so the advantage is its all on one leg the size of a standard ring , the ets was more the size of the bricon one i think

would like to see a lifetime ring same size as present ring with chip built in shouldnt be to difficult  to do

If the chip was allready built in that would mean you would have to pay around £1.20 for the life ring,by doing it this way its up to the fancier weather he puts his own chip in the ring, people not using ETS will then still pay what they are paying now for the life ring.

dear pigeon man i agree with you why should anybody not on ets  pay more for thier rings but feds could order for both then everybody happy like the sport should be at the moment  :) :) :) :)

Problem with that is there are so many differant ETS systems would be a nightmare for the feds to get rings for all the the differant makes, dont think they would want the extra work.

but surely with the technology of today a ring universal to all ets systems  can be made when at national settings doesnt matter what ets you use you only need a unives lead and will work on any system any club if this can beachieved by a 12 inch lead surely all rings all unions can made allocated to members assigned to there club system
