gangster Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 droppers regardless of some opinion are very useful ive seen them used to good effect by top lofts and it does help if you get 2 together it might just make the difference in weather u win or not......tam talking pants again i see...
leighton1984 Posted December 10, 2009 Author Report Posted December 10, 2009 these are what i use Did they do the job for you they look nice i did have a German owl.
Guest j.bamling Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 i used to just use the whistle and didnt have many problems apart from if they came with a strag or came in a group so i used these droppers (haven't a clue what kind they are ;D) this year and never lost a second dropping the birds so i will continue to use them !!
just ask me Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 how many do u use at time jimmy will one do the job
Guest j.bamling Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 i have 7 mate but normally only need 1 at a time ... its just i am lazy and cant be bothered to follow them into the loft so i just throw them and leave them then use the next one ;D ;D
leighton1984 Posted December 10, 2009 Author Report Posted December 10, 2009 I live next to a river and on hot race day i do get lots of strags flying around so a dropper is a must for me. Am on the look out for a new trapper but not sure what breed to try.
catchthepigeon Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 Theres no need for droppers at all with racing pigeons train them to the whistle.I have had a bird so tired after a race it could not get off the house roof it was totally flown out theres nothing a dropper would have done to get that pigeon of the roof i thought droppers where mainly for high flyers
just ask me Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 i have 7 mate but normally only need 1 at a time ... its just i am lazy and cant be bothered to follow them into the loft so i just throw them and leave them then use the next one ;D ;D do u just place them on landing board just ive never used them :-/
Guest j.bamling Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 do u just place them on landing board just ive never used them :-/ no mate i stand with 1 in each hand and the rest in a basket at my feet soon as you see a one coming shake it a bit a bit toot on the whistle and aim the fantail at the door and hopefully the pigeon follows it in like a rocket
just ask me Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 so u only free the droper when u see the birds coming back from the race i want to get this right ;D ;D ;D
Guest j.bamling Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 yes mate no need freeing it if theres no birds home ;D ;D ;)
just ask me Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 yes mate no need freeing it if theres no birds home ;D ;D ;) grand mate thanks
mac1 Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 flappers soon know where to go(straight to the door).i have feather feet tumblers you can let them out the basket and trap like they have been on a race
Guest j.bamling Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 Like i said i raced 3 seasons here what i just used the whistle and never had a problem with trapping because the birds were used to it but since ive introduced the fantails for trapping its even better but i will say 1 thing they must be in with the pigeons what are racing so they are used to seeing them as if you toss a white fantail on a saturday and theyve never seen a one before i cannot see them trapping very good to it ;D ;D ;D
