Guest Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 The Bill Carney cock Wiley? The cock above I bought on PIPA when I thought I had a few bob (but I didn't!) its a flor engels. unfortunately a firend was loking after it for me whilst I was trying to get a loft up and it had an accident and died. Eagle owl the five circles are the circles around the eye. Good Wiley for racing as well as breding best d/p eyes. Very impressed with your knowledge wiley for someone who only recently started looking at the eye, always remember to look at your birds eyes to learn. You have two choices now, if you're only dabbling forget about it but if you believe that Carney was genuine then believe that by studying the eyes (not eye sign) you could emulate Carney.

Im only 18 Albear, im just trying to learn about they eye as much as possible, I only started to try and learn since blackpool last year, were i purchased my first eye glass, and believe me that eye glass has been used so many times on my own birds its constantly fixed and some interesting notes had been taken down, especially during the notes taken down of after a bird has come back from some form of absence from the loft and there overall health. Some marvellous things i have learnt and wish to progress further with my learning. But i would love to meet someone who has a very gd knowledge of the eye one day and talk about his findings, and learn more.

Guest Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 good luck Wiley you are young and more importantly you have an open mind a rare characteristic, you are strong enough not to say yes i agree for the sake of it but clever enough to be able to not dismiss something because the majority do. Best wishes Alan

pigeonscout Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 If dogs had been selected on eye sign to breed for speed would there be such a thing as a grey hound?
Guest Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 No but perhaps they could race from Barcelona ;D : and they would obviously be otter hounds
Guest Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 I hope the webmaster won't mind me publicising another site, with regard to eyes, the latest October sale on PIPA has some of the best birds in my opinion ever. But in particular sale 4 lot 6 what a foundation distance hen this would be, it will churn out winners, paired to the Red National the same sale list would breed a dynasty........just a note of caution if anyone is thinking of going for the red national, you will notice there is a photo of the right eye and further down a montage with Chinese on it of the left eye, the one eye is much paler, it could simplybe a different photographer and quality of picture. However it is often a sign that the bird may have suffered and is still not recovered, but what a fantastic pigeon.
Guest Posted October 21, 2007 Report Posted October 21, 2007 If dogs had been selected on eye sign to breed for speed would there be such a thing as a grey hound? nope is that not why they call them sighthounds instead ;D ;D ;D ;D
Guest Posted October 21, 2007 Report Posted October 21, 2007 Are all the rejects that are sent from the Continent Newfoundlands?
PC Posted January 5, 2008 Report Posted January 5, 2008 i dont know how well it would work as pigeons tend to move a bit but for really closeup work the cheap alternative to a new lens used to be a set of extension to go between your camera & lens I know ive still got pictures of the queens eye from a postage stamp that i did when i was a teenager & the full stamp as well so one set should do it but ask in a good photo shop if it will work with digital cameras
Taylorsloft Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 what do you think of these two eyes
Guest karl adams Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 i wish i could take pic of my birds eyes and get them to be as good as them
Merlin Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 The study of pigeons eyes to me is an absolutely fascinating one, of the many traits that I believe are present in choosing and determining a good racing/breeding pigeon, eye sign as such is a myth, but the quality of eyes in doing what I have stated is very real, likewise reading/studying of eyes for many other reasons,health/form/ailmentss/past and presents with the latter part being an absolute fact, ask any optician what he can observe, besides quality of sight,I have read most if not all of whats being printed by the likes of Fleming,Jack Barkel,Pete Pobor and most other exponents plus many statements, works by professionals/non fanciers, and using from these what I consider being most important to myself and birds, this being done by the the most factual system I know, namely trial and error,i am now quite pleased with what I have learned, but never at any time was it based on the personality of any individulal person, mine was always based rather on the story than the storyteller,Fact or ficton, The Study of Eyes, its there for any fancier to make up their minds regarding same, but it should be done with an open mind
