the wee red hens Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 what is it and how would you do it?
jimmy white Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 basicly the lightness system is obviusly the exact opposite to the darkness system,, whereas the darkness system is fooling the yb,s birds its winter ,by giving them winter hours daylight , where [like latebreds , natuarly dark nights ] they will have a full body moult ,but retain all their nest flights. the lightness system is fooling them in winter ,,,that it is summer,,, by giving them summer daylight hours artificialy whereas these winter bred yb,s will have had a complete moult , including their flights. may i add a word of warning though, allthough i have flown both of these systems quite successfully[just for the sake of winning a yb race] i am now under the impression of,,,,fight against nature,,,,,,,,and it will fight back
the wee red hens Posted September 18, 2008 Author Report Posted September 18, 2008 THANKS FOR THAT JIMMYI THINK WE WILL STAY NATURAL
just ask me Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 jimmy may iask why is the darkness more popular then the light system and your view is best
jimmy white Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 jimmy may iask why is the darkness more popular then the light system and your view is best i thinkthe reason probablybeing the lightness yb has to fully moult its flights as well as body moult, and the chances are,,,unless very early bred and more or less" force" moulted,, it could be moulting its last flights when they first few races start [even when training] the darkness system seems more popular as , as soon as theve finished their body moult are ready to train i,e retaining their nest flights in my veiw the darkness yb,s are best,,[ for winning yb races ], but these have to moult all flights b4 pairing the next seson , which sometimes if timed wrongly ,doesnt allways happen , and if this doesnt happen, will upset the moult as a yearling
just ask me Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 have raced the last 3 year since i got back just naturall thinking of trying darkness this year any tips or hints or things not to do would be very helpfull
jimmy white Posted September 18, 2008 Report Posted September 18, 2008 have raced the last 3 year since i got back just naturall thinking of trying darkness this year any tips or hints or things not to do would be very helpfull in my opinion some yb,s are bred too early i,e hatched dec, these birds off course really are in fact late late latebreds and are on the natural darkness system , i have found nothing to gain by this , and really your just feeding them an extra couple of months , if its yb,s you want to win with i found the end of jan pairings the best ,then put straight on darkness using curtains ,still letting them out [plenty baths induce the moult],but keeping them in ,with the curtains closed between 5 of an evening till 9 in the morning at this time i fed plenty maples along with some seeds , putting them on full daylight on the longest day,, then lighten the diet then make them work hard ,,,during the scond moult just after the national usually found plenty rest plenty baths again some seeds ,they fully moulted without any artificial light, this is just very basic , but hope this helps
