THE FIFER Posted December 28, 2008 Report Posted December 28, 2008 how many members have youngsters in the nest or just about, and why do you breed so early, have you had past achievements etc with them, or not any.

mark croker Posted December 28, 2008 Report Posted December 28, 2008 chipped out today, i do it so i dont have to put them on the dark, also you can race widowhood with them, there more schooled aswell and it makes my pairing at the end of the year better
Guest Posted December 28, 2008 Report Posted December 28, 2008 1 round of y/birds off race birds sometime slip the eggs from stock birds under racers to get extra y/birds from stock pairs so by end of feb. begining of march only the stock birds have nests keep them going till middle of may leaves the race team free to get fit and also helps from putting stress on them they only need to worry about racing and there mate

sapper756 Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 In the past I have paired up on Boxing day, however this year I plan to pair up at the end of January, and put the youngsters on darkness.
alex wight Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 I,m in the process of pairing up, i,ve not bred so early but need to get my young bird team sorted asap, so that i can concentrate on my yearlings that never raced last year. I,m also going to put them on the darkness for the first time so its going to be hit and miss this year. Just hope i pull it off. Next year will be different, as i,ll be breeding later, just from my stock pairs. Trial and error for me. alex.
andrew gooch Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 had lots of success with january bread young and it gives the widower plenty of time to get fit before racing
THE FIFER Posted December 29, 2008 Author Report Posted December 29, 2008 keep the posts coming they are very interesting, cheers
grizzal Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 All pairs just started to lay,so young will be wean with plenty of time for the yearlings to get ready for racing. most of them were just trained last year
doo Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 When I had birds I bred early Jan for pairing .....I would suggest any trying it to buy thermal nest bowls from Rhonfied (not correct spelling) they are never cold to the touch, they warm with the sitting bird &hold warmth .....I never bothered with felts ....only tobbaco stalks bought at Blackpool show.......when I raced I did well in club & fed with early yb's
