Guest LBuddle Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 we always treat them as the following years youngsters, ie 2010 babys with 2009 rings on!! I personally wouldn't train them untill there is Green on the trees next year! Lee.

I personally wouldn't train them untill there is Green on the trees next year! Lee. Ditto Our 2007 latebreds were trained in 2008 with the old and young birds and had 2 races as trainers with the young birds in 2008 They had the full old bird inland programme - except for the first combine race, and they had the last channel race (a stinker!!) we still have them both

ritchie1 Posted November 14, 2009 Author Report Posted November 14, 2009 none of my birds get trained over 25 miles thats what they get 25 miles is far enough for any bird
Guest bakes Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 30 tosses in total andy 5 tosses at each place all the best
Guest IB Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 I've a few latebreds myself this year, still untrained. Would only be able to train at weekends, but between short daylight hours, weather & moult, don't see sense in trying that, and frankly, weekends at this time of year are for other jobs around house garden & loft. So will wait till April / May next year, more or less treat them as youngsters and race them out to say 233 / 257 miles as yearlings. I've a few that I did that with this year, dropped some, but the 3 left I expect to go 500+ miles next year.
Guest ENDFLIGHT Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 I am agreat beleiver in late breds, i do not train them in their birth year, example 09 l/breds will be trained and treated as part of my old bird team i expect them to race from 60 mls to the last inland race approx 321/360mls then keep the ones that are left.i can assure you if there good enough they can and will do it ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU CAN NOT BREED LATE BREDS FROM THE BIRDS YOU HAVE LOST IN THE EARLIER RACES this is my system, and sometimes it works cheers
