Was going to pair up in a couple of weeks,do people put the nest bowls in straight away or after a couple of days follwed by the felts and tobacoo stalks etc.Do you let them settle to the box for a couple of days and avoid them chucking everything about.

same never put them in straght away as for nest felts i think they are a waist of money also there are lots of problams caused with them over last two years never had them years ago people done fine with out them nothing wrong with hand full of shavings as i put this in boxes when they are locked up anyway cleaner for them also u aint got mess with them till they settle and let out

i've seen me putting a bowl into a bird thats a bit too overkeen with his hen,i tend to put the bowl in one corner and a piece of 3x3 timber 6 inches long in the other corner so the hen can get up out the road of the cock,he soon gets the message and soon calls her to the bowl,i've seen me do this on the first day

question for you all i have had the hens in with cocks now for 13 days but only two have paired will they pair better if i put the nest pans in now

i put the bowls straight in,  i let the cocks out to come back in to the bowls,  i will be using the bowls as a trigger so i want it to be the same as i will when i am racing,  i put shavings in the bowl and let the cocks in them lock him there,  i then lock the hens in the other side of the box and let the cock calm down as he has not seen a hen for months,   i  then put the stalks in after about 2/3 days,  and i never use nest felts

the wood in the corner is also a good tip,  the hens will pair easyer if the cock cant beat her,  they will pair up through the wires and he will then start to call her to the bowl

FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKENDS I HAVE LEFT THE COCKS AND HENS OUT ON A SUNDAY, DISTANCE BIRDS,THE BOWLS GO IN ONE WEEK BEFORE I PAIR, THE COCKS CANT GET TO THE BOWLS, I THEN LEAVE THE HEN IN WITH THE COCKS ON 1st Feb, THE COCKS AND HENS ARE ALLOWED TO PAIR AND FLY ALL DAY BUT CANNOT GET TO THE BOWL, AFTER 3 DAYS OPEN UP THE BOX TO BOWL, FILL WITH STRAW, AND LEAVE WELL ALONE,
