Guest Vic Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Three down from 20 sent, touching 1300 up this way. (in a cold north easterly wind. The mind bogles?????????????????? Don't It!
carlsberg Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 well in our club there were 10 birds back out of 40 and i've got 9 more yearlings out

Lennut Tar Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 well even if they turn up by tuesday they will go friday again but any that come after will go next week MMMMMMMmmmmmmmm :'( :'( :'( Interesting, :( . But then !!!!!!!, what would I know ???????????. Enjoy.
carlsberg Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 hi lennut do you ever have cold north east winds down under or are warm north east winds
Guest IB Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 We were at Coldstream too and I think a few might have been surprised at how well they came, forum member Johnny Bhoy was 1st and 2nd Club with birds 6 seconds apart, doing 66 miles in 61 mins, vels 1891 and 1888, the partnership timed a 2yo and a yearling. Got 2 within 5 minutes in what I thought at the time 'in good time', then nothing for hours until nos 3 and 4 arrived 4pm and 5pm making it 100% - all yearlings.
Guest NUMA Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 well even if they turn up by tuesday they will go friday again but any that come after will go next week and youve still got 9 out ? it will be a short season for you doing that.
carlsberg Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 still got 5 for north and 10 for south but it is still early yet they'll come back
carlsberg Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 the ones that returned today i could have basketed and sent south road it took nothing out of them still fit but i dont mind leaving the late ones at home next week as our next race is less than 70mls
Guest Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 As keen as i am,i dont really under stand the urgency of most to compete in first race ,unless the averages in club are important to you, thats fair enought.i might go next week if weather is better. it was very cold today and most of fanciers i spoke have droped yearlings, but thats what you get with a east wind.
carlsberg Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 just checked the race program next week 68mls followed by 91 mls in hindsight should have left them home this week although i was 1st and 2nd club it probably was'nt worth it
Lennut Tar Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 just checked the race program next week 68mls followed by 91 mls in hindsight should have left them home this week although i was 1st and 2nd club it probably was'nt worth it ;D ;D ;D I quite like your little dig ??????? ;) above, "Well done". To answer your query now "Re the weather here" It's a bit different here, we race in winter (Cold north west winds) early in the season much of the time & towards the end of the season it swings to a SE - SW wind etc. Because we fly 4 seperate lines, up to 600 miles etc, year in year out so to speak I can guarantee to everyone here ;) we get hammered quite often :'( :'( :'(. Many Irish, Scots & Poms "LMFAO" etc have come here with there wisdom & experience, to show us the way ???????? & unfortunately :X :X :X for some strange reason !!!!!!!! most fall by the wayside. "Except one" in my time. A bloke called John Dinsmore, used to fly up around Manchester I believe years ago ??????. He is tops & I give him credit for what he has achieved etc here. Now !!!!!!! for the rest of you lot ;D ;D ;D come on over & you will learn a whole new ball game in regards to racing pigeons. Enjoy.

wings Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 I still have 8 missing out of 13 hopefully they will come today or maybe some. It seems that the hens that were raced in our club have come a lot better than the cocks, there might be some thing in raceing cocks in to a east wind.
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 held over for the cornish combine
crazy pigeon boy Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 i have 5 out of 10 and im two 5 year olds out so dont know what happend but it's not good
Guest spin cycle Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 i just sent a few '2nd teamers'. i like to give every pigeon a chance otherwise you end up with a lot of untried pigeons....then what do you do. i'm 2 out but another has done well and has allready earned his perch in two tough races (in many lofts he'd have been gone last year). i havn't sent ayearling yet though.
Back garden fancier Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 Sent 7, got one on the day and one this morning. Lesson learned !!

Guest Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 11/12 yesterday, other one came this morning
