Whats it called Cumbernauld Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Any tools that will help reduce what happened yeasterday is of great importance.thanks for posting this link Cheers Rab smith
Novice Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 I found the information on this link highly interesting. Elimination of as many variables as possible must help. It's strange that others are not aware of the existence of such a tool
Guest IB Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 There were plenty posts on here yesterday giving weather information that was easy to understand and very dependable given that it was provided by pigeon people on the ground, for pigeon people, for pigeon racing up and down the country. What other tool do you need? A brain perhaps, or the ability to use it, would surely have stopped pigeons being liberated in the face of first-hand weather reports that would tell even a 2 year old - don't liberate.
johno Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 100% IB common sense appears not so common. simple answer no super theories needed. birds should not have been let go.

Whats it called Cumbernauld Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Where are you Tom? Rab Smith

Well the people who liberated are there to see it first hand and still they do it so think the only answer is to replace them with people who care for the welfare of the birds as well as the fanciers interests. To do the things they have is nothing short of disgusting on a criminal scale. Hope you guys get the majority back if not all of them
Ronnie Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 With no intention of picking an argument You cant put all the blame on the people who liberated the birds we are all capeable of reading a weather forecast and all knew the weather for yesterday yet we still sent the birds (myself included). Its easy to critisise(sp) after the event. In this day and age there is no exscuse for not checking the weather. If you think its gonna be a bad one raise the issue with your club sec and if all else fails keep the birds home.Like i said i'm not trying to pick an argument because i sent my own birds as well yesterday luckily we had half decent returns but i am still 2 hens down wich is a big loss for me as i only had seven hens to start with.

budgie Posted May 18, 2008 Author Report Posted May 18, 2008 We have 53 out 71 within the first hour racing fromCharnock 157 miles taking them 3hrs 53 mins .The best times to hand are 3hrs 41 mins. :)
tom corrie Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU SEND 1 OR A 100 BIRDS AT THE END OF THE DAY YOU PUT THE WELFARE OF YOUR BIRDS IN THE HANDS OF THE RACE CONTROLER WHO IF HE IS DOING HIS JOB SHOULD KNOW THAT THERE ARE TWO FEDS 30 MILES UP THE ROAD WHO DID NOT LIBERATE YOU MUST ASK THE QUESTION WHY THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE ANSWER BAD WEATHER I KNOW IT IS A THANKLESS TASK BUT THE PERSON WHO MADE THE DECISION MUST CARRY THE CAN RAB I STAY IN AIRDRIE I NOW HAVE 8 BIRDS HOME FROM 18 DID NOT START TO COME TILL AFTER 12 am
jimmy white Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 http://www.pigeonnavigation.com/ this is the one i use but as tammy has said sometime's its not too trustworthy its very intresting ,,seemed trustworthy this weekend ill check that out each week now

I usually watch the weather forecast all week. I for one did not expect to wake up on Saturday to hours of persistent rain and low full cloud cover. I expected a fair day with an odd shower - that was the forecast I read for Fri, Sat and Sun, and that is what we got - on Friday and Sunday. But a forecast is just that - a forecast, and on the day it can turn out to be something different. That's when people need to co-operate and give reports of how the weather actually is on the day. The overall picture on Saturday on this Site anyway was pretty clear : it wasn't a day for racing pigeons. Take your point about losses. In a small team, 1 pigeon down is a big hit. I'm 4 down from start of season = 1/5th of my team and we aren't over 200 miles yet.
