morton
Has anyone got an opinion on what type of pigeon is best suited to 100-250 mile races ? Or what strain do you like ?

Roland
Any fit condirioned and healthy birds. same ones that fly the 600 miles + etc. Just management a mite different, and feather merchants yarns, and others justication of putting up price, or a crutch for a lame excuse. terry mac
I HAVE TRIED A FEW STRAINS, I NOW RACE GEVAERT VAN SCHOORISSE AND FIND THEM TO BE EXCELLENT, BUT TO BE FAIR IT IS THE MANAGEMENT OF YOUR BIRDS THAT WILL DECIDE WHAT DISTANCE THEY WILL FLY BEST AT
Roland
Hi Terry, have a few GEVAERT whatever and they have flown the distance very wel for me. Like you say it is all down to managerment and what they wish to acheive with their birds. Often wonder what these so caled sprints are that get lost from tosses, and 100 mile or less races. Must have been meant for the ole 'Street Races' I presume.
jimmy white
BEST BIRDS FOR 100 TO 250 MILES ARE THE ONESTHAT AVE WON AT THESE DISTANCES THROUGH GENERATIONS , NO MATTER WHAT SO CALLED BREED
terry mac
i think the british fancier gets caught up to much with the term strains, the belgy lads dont much bother about which is for sprint or distance they breed out of winners from all diferent strains and produce their own champions at their own preffered distance, i have crossed my gevaerts with janssens and won from 500 mls. the same bird has won from 70mls
