kev01293 Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 what do u use on your pigeons ,tel no rings or wing stamps? when i used to wing stamp i never had a lost pigeon reported back to me but since changing over to tel no rings ive had 4 yb,s reported back which i dont think would have been reported if they were wing stamped as non fanciers wouldnt know to look under a pigeons wing but a tel ring no is much easier spotted, what do u think or use? kev
robinthfc Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 Yep..I use address split rings, they are much better then stamping, and you do seem to get more reported, especially from non flyer's.
Guest jason Posted February 3, 2007 Report Posted February 3, 2007 I use a wing stamp. for the simple reason if you have a pigeon missing for more than 12 months, do you want it reporting/ do you want to pay to get it back. with a wing stamp the bird will moult the feathers out. funnily enough, we had a feather reported and the bloke thought he'd won a prize for finding the feather.lol ;D jason

Guest Hjaltland Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 We get quite a few strays up here during the race season, most of which are wing-stamped (& English!). I have to say every time i phone fanciers about their lost birds the response is always greatfull and we do what we can to repatriate. Personally I like to use the name rings, non fanciers do seem to find those easy.
THE FIFER Posted February 4, 2007 Report Posted February 4, 2007 yes Hjaltland i would think the rings are better for non fanciers as they would not know to look at the wings,
