speight i think you can get latebreds bred from brilliant pigeons, for very little or nothing, im at present getting one free ,a daughter of a national winner, i dont think i would have got this bird if it had been born jan, feb, or march. but with a little patience il try and blend it in., with the family i have, and even then, they can only be tried, but the breeding is there.

Most late breds are weaned towards end of August usually taken of best racers of the season. If you have a spare section keep them altogether and treat them like you would your darkness youngsters ie short daylight hours. Start training them on good days after they've been ranging and by the time the clocks change none will have or will not moult any flights that year. keep training on good days right through winter. You will find at the start of next season you will be racing yearlings as if they were darkness youngsters sexually mature and great racers for the first six weeks of the season. Ideal for the distance fancier who doesnt want to get their race team going to early...

Do you keep your late bred's for yourself or gives them away to a novice's and new starters?

PERSONALLY I DONT BREED LATEBREDS,REASONS,DONT LIKE TO KEEP BIRDS THROUGH THE WINTER THAT HAVE NOT RACED,I WOULD NOT BREED LATEBREDS TO KEEP FOR STOCK NO MATTER WHAT THEY WERE BRED OFF INFACT I WOULDN,T KEEP A PIGEON FOR STOCK JUST BECAUSE IT WAS BRED OFF A CERTAIN PIGEON EITHER.

I usally pair some late birds if I get a young cock or  hen that is good I will put them with old cock or hen usally I can get a set of eggs out of these latebreds in time to race for YB season I will also do my inbreeding this time of year I almost think that its like cheating the clock we  are having a 100 mile sprint series next year with a 100 mile race every week in addition to our regular race I have bred 24 youngsters late especially for this set of races as far as I know I am only one in club that did so these birds have been in loft for 2 weeks now and will be flown out next week I will let them route for about a month then I will start training right after first of year I intend to take them 20 x 3 then 50 x 2 then on to 75 and 100 and then 150 as this whole team is going to be latebreds I will let you know how this goes

Clockman and his good friend Jim Foran gifted me 6 late breds this year when i started off, when out and about i've tossed them from here there and everywhere up to and around 15 miles with no losses, it might be beginners luck but as george told me " give them time and treat them right and they will do you fine" .

Jimmy "the flash" White when approached for info about latebreds could,nt have been more helpful which only goes to show that in this game if you ask the RIGHT people you'll get advice, good advice what more can you ask?.
