chubs Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 1 or 2 books relating to pigeon racing which ones would they be & why?
Hogni Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 101 methods by Jules Gallez, yes maybe a bit old but what i like about it is that you find very much common sense in it, cheap and simple ways to improve yourself as a fancier and cheap and simple ways to improve your birds health etc.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 Pigeons For Everyone by Douglas McClarry is the one I have, probably about one of the most informative books there is, everything you basically need to know
Merlin Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 My own notes, being a scribbler regarding the birds, writing it down as I went along, over the years, reading back on these notes at anytime, gives me most everything now, laughter, constant contradictions, constantly trying to put images/ appearances,colours/ to sometimes only numbers, and those I can recollect, their ability, their final demise, joys and disapointments in abundance over fifty years of racing and breeding our feathered friends,to a non pigeon fancier,it would surely read in some form of cryptic code,to me all pigeon life is there, and a good deal of my own is also here, oh yeah, still scribbling..

TERRY JOHNSON Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 "THE COLLECTED WORKS OF OLD HAND" volumes 1 & 2, only for distance racing of course.
Guest IB Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 I thought Colin Osman's 'The Racing Pigeon' gave the beginner a great introduction to most aspects of both looking after, breeding and racing pigeons. Well written, easy to read and great value too at around £7.
Lennut Tar Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 101 methods by Jules Gallez, yes maybe a bit old but what i like about it is that you find very much common sense in it, cheap and simple ways to improve yourself as a fancier and cheap and simple ways to improve your birds health etc. Hogni !!!!!!! I will endorse your views here 100% (Top Books) But the thing that amuses me, every time I read them etc. Is all the spelling mistakes in them (No spell check) in those days ;D ;D ;D Quite extraordinary !!!!!! & I just wonder at times. How they were ever allowed to go to print. Maybe ?????? ;D ;D ;D they just thought, us silly old pigeon flyers. Would never notice. Well !!!!!!! I did, along with many others I presume. Enjoy

M. Monsees, Cadoxton - Barry. Glamorgan. Great Britain. Still !!!!! I like to be fare & reasonable in my posts here. Guest shadow Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 loft stock & barrel and the way with hens by barry mcnicholas
Guest chrisss Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 a old book that my father in law had in his time by a guy called lt corby my choice 101 methods
MsPigeon Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 "The Flying Vet's Pigeon Health Management" by Dr Collin Walker and "A Veterinary Approach to Pigeon Health" by Dr David Marx These are a couple of my favorite and most read and used books, but I haven't looked at the new books on the market for a couple years, there is mostly more or better ones. The most important thing for a beginner to remember is without health you have nothing. Yours in the sport. Carol
