Indeed they did & do.  That has no bearing on it at all in terms of whether it should be rolled out to the Fancy.  Most Regions are against it. How do we know this?  Simple, Dad & Mom go to all the region / Council meetings where its discussed !

Look at Scotland as a classic example.  They've had all sorts of problems with it up there. The Letters page in the BHW has been full of it for years.

Very little progress apart from uk one loft races if you can afford them.

The Sec of the NEHU has written to all clubs to tell them to have things in place for 2007. FACT. The RPRA has until Nov 2007 to approve the use of ETS or it will comein under the DDA.

I totally agree with you Rose, and why if these birds are so good do people keep parting with them - once I have one no ammount of money will get me to part with a champ. Maybe I am not as hard as these people when it comes to my birds or is it just that their are lots of gullible people about to part with all this money.

SO WHY DO THEY NOT SEND OUT A BALLOT PAPER TO EVERY MEMBER OF THE

  RPRA TO VOTE ON IT.

THEN WE WOULD ALL KNOW ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.

NOT AGAINST IT MYSELF, BUT THAT WILL NOT MEAN I WILL BE RUSHING OUT

  TO BUY IT.

HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING OFFICAL SAYING THIS IS WHAT MEMBERS DO OR

DONOT WANT

I am not against it either, but at the same time I would still rather clock the pigeon myself on a saturday it's part of the fun. I do think it is a great option for people with disabilities - and also if you can't be at home to see your birds back from training to give you an idea which ones are in better shape in the team.

Its technology ..... why have you got a Internet ready PC ...why not just write to everyone ....why have a mobile phone why not just use a landline or telegram. Think it was already said about when some Fanciers (those who had money) had clocks and the rest of us had to run to the Post Office was that fair? that some people who had most money had an advantage.

Are stall traps fair ...do they give advantage. Is Natural racers having to be basketed with some of the blown up Widowers fair and the list goes on and on. Also we must comply with legislation and accessibility for those who may have a disability and ETS allows them to have the opportunity to participate.

If you are racing in the Winter olympics do you use the Electronic timing system or a Man standing at the bottom of the hill with a stopwatch.

I dont have it but i have no objection to those who want it ....you can choose to use it or not. Many of the fanciers are getting on in years and are pretty much scared of new Tech or may not be in the game for the long haul and thuerefore not worth the investment. Most of the racing fraternity outside the UK has it so what is the problem really

Well said there fifestay.

its 2006 now people

If ETS is accepted are Clubs obliged to allow its use in club racing and who pays for the necessary club equipment if required. Also can clubs insist on traditional back up clocks for verification purposes as they do in the Internationals.

Usually the Clock Manufactorers or distributors will throw a Club Unit into the deal when several members purchase their system

Im not sure witch is the best way to go But things must go forwards but how can we make things fair for all witch is most important To keep the members that we have And not price them out of the sport Now how about this could all the people with ETS use there ETS system on race day And backed up by the use of say the fastised of all tradishnal clocks the T3 then work out the difference between the two then make this amount of time the handicapped then surly things would be fair for all And this could have a knock on affect so the disabled could compete and maybe bring more people into the sport Im sure something could be worked out to keep things fair for All   I know i would want to win a race through unfair means so come on people get those thinking capes on and im sure the ETS lads are the same as well                just a thought yours in sport     bob

When we talk about being "priced" out the game I don't think it's just the way we time our birds.

You just have to look at some of the prices that are being asked for pigeons these days...........it's crazy.

No wonder there isn't younger people joining the sport........they can't afford it.

Just because ETS is being slowly accepted, it doesn't mean everyone has to use it.

Roundo.

Now how about this could all the people with ETS use there ETS system on race day And backed up by the use of say the fastised of all tradishnal clocks the T3 then work out the difference between the two then make this amount of time the handicapped then surly things would be fair for all

Now that sounds like a race secretary's NIGHTMARE!!!! I know your only trying to think of a compromise, but gee wizzz. Buy an expensive system to save on the work and then use two systems so as to double the work????

Just my opinion

Exclude the opposition if you wish, but this is the one way to put everyone on an even scale. We all know that there are those that will set up there own club to get ther own way. Good riddance to bad rubbish

Friends,  I can see that this subject is now going to spill over on the General Board again, please lets respect Webmasters wishes and confine it to the Members only section of the forum

Thanks

racing pigeons is done as a sport A race is from A to B and over the finish line now i  think the ETS system would be a great step forward if every one could buy it but that s not possible and a bit silly to think they could or should but another daft idea from myself how about work out the time difference between the two  and say it was 5 seconds just knock the 5 second off the flying time nationally of us STB PEOPLE so that it brings the finish line back fairly and the vilosty would have some value in the feds and combine there as to be some mathematical way to make things fair BECAUSE who wants to win a race unfairly i would h ate to But lets face it people we are the weak link in our flying times maybe im missing something maybe im a idiot im sure somebody can put me right please do tell yours in sport   BOB

and say it was 5 seconds just knock the 5 second off the flying time nationally of us STB PEOPLE so that it brings the finish line back fairly .

That wouldn't be fair to the bird, the clock doesn't make them faster or slower, it is the person or persons running them. The time losee is the reaction time between people not birds. I could sit under my board with my had ready to grab the marker and clock it in and save gettig out of my chair and putting my beer on the table  stumbling over the rake and hose in the way and falling under the board ,lol but the bird was there I didn't do my job of clocking him fast enough for it to win. So I have spent some of my beer money and stoped smoking to get chip bands and now I just stay in my chair and keep drinking that beer and watch how nice they hit the board and run in the loft without me pulling there foot off to gain 2 sec. For the longest time people rode horses and some had cars, but after awhile most got a car be it used or new. Be Happy and enjoy our Sport while we have it. :-)

;D ;) I love it! Now that's a quote worth remembering and repeating! Can I pass that one along Chatrace?  :)

Im trying to be constructive not destructive to the sport  but man and bird as been pigeon racing since it started  And we have been apart of the velocity since that time Now with the ETS there volocity his bird only So without a handicap worked out how can there be a race between the two type of lofts because if a ETS loft wins a race by a yard over a conventional loft I know and you know witch is the better bird And in that yard the ETS loft could have had five bird just walk in PUTING THE BEST bird  out of the cards so what do you suggest to make thing FAIR     .                                    PS i could give that much drink up that it would pay for a ETS i like to enjoy my racing and be apart of it Its not a spectator sport     yours in sport      while it lasts     BOB

Well Not to upset anyone, we here in our club fly both clocks yet. for the 1st 2years the flyer that won average speed used counter marks and the old woodend 12 hole Benzing clock. He is a middle flyer so the distance being short or long wasn't a real factor. Again it was his birds and how he had the in form for the race, 3 or 4 sec wasn't the reason, he won and won by yards some races,so I guess the factor was not the problem. It not like horse racing where all weigh the same :-)
