They where his fathers birds no mention of janssen bros  could be wrong

the original partnership was Jules Janssens and Segers, Roland partnered his father in later years, Do not get Jules Janssens mixed up with Jules Janssens of the 1800s , this is a different Jules Janssens.

hope this helps. spencer

Aad Van Berkel raced a grizzle called Silver Shadow, he was produced from a Van Loon Cock x a Tournier Grizzle hen that came from his uncle.  A number of brothers to this pigeon is Silver Boy, Silver Man, Silver Bullet Silver Shadow 2 become champion racers and breeders also. Silver Shadow and Silver Bullet were sold to H Eijerkamp & Son and they marketed them as Silver Shadow Van Loons mainly as they crossed them with there own Van Loon family and so was born the name. Ive never heard of Silver Shadow Janssens????

hi stu, i think the guy meant silver shadow van loons , not sure he meant janssens as such, only he can answer you better in what he actually did mean, but you may well be correct on the van loon thing. I only had original loons from Orbital lofts. years ago mind early 90s.

But are not janssens a mixture too? I saw some birds the other day and they were direct Janssens bros from only a few years back, and nothing like what i'd seen before (including the mighty ARJAN), and i would not of given a tenner each for them, and not bred that prolofic either.

Halve Fabry was of Jos Van Den Bosch origin!  ;)

this is a fact , quite correct and the halve fabry was the only cross which was brought in if i am not mistaken.  ;)

Just for those that wondered if it was true.  ;)

Janssenbrothers always have claimed that the only pigeon they succesfully imported in their loft was the so-called ‘Halve Fabry’ (‘Half Fabry’) B-60-1000863.

‘Halve Fabry’ is the grandgrandfather of worldfamous ‘Oude Merckx’  (B-67-6282031) and ‘Oude Merckx’ is father of ‘019’ and of ‘Jonge Merckx’. Janssenbrothers got ‘Halve Fabry’ from Mr Fabry who bred it off a Janssenbird (so it could also have been called 'Halve Janssen’ and a hen of his own (B-59-1005026) which Fabry got from… Jos van den Bosch. It was a daughter of his ‘Young Princess’  (B-57-6327825) and ‘Young Princess’ was a daughter of  Jos van den Bosch’s ‘Princess  of 56’. ‘Princess of 56’ was a sister of the mother of ‘Oude van den Bosch’ of Karel Meulemans! Can you imagine that? The world famous Janssenpigeons are related to the world famous Meulemanspigeons. The connecting link is ‘Princess’ a pigeon of Jos van den Bosch who also supplied Huyskens van Riel with their ‘Dream Team’ shortly after World War 2

So:

-Janssen and Meulemans both live in the town of Arendonk.

-Janssen and Meulemans both had a miracle bird called ‘Merckx’.

- Both these miracle birds  descend of ‘Princess’ of Jos van den Bosch.

The bloodline of ‘Princess’ is not only in Janssen’s Merckx, 019 etcetera.

‘The Halve Fabry’ which I mentioned before is father to that wonderbird ‘Oude Witoger’ (B-65-6371172) which won 15 first prizes and ‘Oude Witoger’ is father of ‘Oude Raket’ etcetera.

Nigel Templer had a cock that was 100% Meuleman, he was a big bugger and had a host of prizes but Niigel always said he was too big, he didnt say that when it won 1st Sect 17th Open NFC Saintes from 400 miles, they come in all shapes ;)
:)would i be right,Nigel Templer won the classic with a silver shadow, but i think this man can win with any family :)

My Meulemans are medium to slightly over medium, and thats as they were in the 70s and 80s, domed heads , no dip between beak and forehead, they have shoulders like an ox and back to match, built to do a job and conform to a certain type.  ;)

:)will you take PX for some of these next year ;)

Apologise mr wilcox, thats what you get trying to multi task! It was not the name i was thinking of, but same principle, Silver shadow half van loon tournier does not sound the same does it??

l

As for the Halve fabry, he was bred from a son of De Witoger called de Trage, and his mum was Portois. People also forget as well as being a partnership the bros originally had seperate lofts too, and had birds from Goosens, celuelmans and schoeters!! So although they exchanged birds from these they were still Janssens. Also remember long time ago Jules wouters (i think) saying how he had bred birds for them, and a lot of the time you notice they always referred to "succesful" introductions, no mention of the failed ones!!

I am getting dizzy (dizzy)(dizzy)(dizzy) we seem to be going round in circles (dizzy)(dizzy)(dizzy). This is all circumspect. It is all down to opinions who was the best, nothing really scientific or cast iron. We all have our preferences and tend to lean towards them as a result we can become less impartial. Just my opinion, like I have said opinions are like belly buttons everyone has one (shrug)(shrug)(shrug)
