Guest chrisss Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 the amazing thing about these pigeons is that people charge a small fortune for them, but i have never [yet] met anyone that flies them[apart from you of course!!!!]does any one else fly these?

rembrant2coo Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 Anyone fly these what distance would you say there capable of i was thinking of trying mine at a 290 channel this coming wekend Cheers Mark you will not know till you try them , and if the channel is only 290 miles for you i would be putting the lot , unless your a sprint specialist and if thats the case the whole lot would go cheers hope you have success
likklegriz Posted May 28, 2008 Author Report Posted May 28, 2008 Cheers everyone looking at weather I'm still not sure the 1 RJ i have is off JakJak he's being doing well so far. I'm not a specialist at owt yet mate just enjoy the sport i work 10/11hours a day and have to young uns under 10 which are my priority always at the bottom of club results (After 3 years trying) but enjoying it a lot I'm in a good club with a lot of larger than life characters Mark
Roland Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 No disrespect meant, but you will find - in time - that 290 miles should be a 'Stroll in the Park' for any bird, even y/b's. If fit and conditioned when sent! Outside of so called smashes - any losses would be a blessing. Saves feed and wasting time on breeding etc.
Roland Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 You know, when I was oin Canada, young birds were flying over 400 miles back to back, yes consecretive weeks! Had young birds, in 1989, fly the Thurso in an absolute down pour, yes all day long for 3/4 days... yet got 2/3 three, and the other on Xmas day. Been a day earlier would have had 'Pigeon Pie' instead of 'Rook' for Xmas lunch .
likklegriz Posted May 28, 2008 Author Report Posted May 28, 2008 thanks all for replys rang J Mellor this morn he's advised me not to send him, i put them back together Saturday ??) and because he's driving like crazy he may give it his all and burn himself out and chance of losing him which i don't want Mark
Guest Thunder Birds Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Roland Janssens are sprinters and highly strung - could wind himself up too much and burn himself out just as you say! Crossed they'll add speed to any strain and do the distance but about 200 miles is about as far as they'll do pure (with the odd exception)
jakjak Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 I flew the Roland Janssens last year as young birds. I had one Blue ck to win a first prize. This year as a yearling on widowhood he has scored another first prize. So i am very pleased. Sire and Dam were bred by John Mellor
gangster Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 and john and alex know a fair bit more than most with this family as they are winning regularly with them..and there walter docxs as well lets not forget they have some real class birds from this family as well......... :P :P
ACE LOFTS Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 i have looked into these "roland janssens" and have never seen 1 in a pedigree of a big pigeon or a top pigeon may be im not looking hard enough
gangster Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 ace try looking on rolands website or look at the results birds sutch as wizard of win 17x1st..superkweker11/12..4x1st ..5x1st kline jos 12x1st.oude gryzen 19x1st and there are plenty more witte-plek 5x1st .ch vechter ect ect...the list goes on and on!!!....maybe the colour does not suit but it dont stop them winning...
pjc Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 prob is a lot of people are now just breeding them for the colour instead of looking for something to perform. Phil
gangster Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 well pjc i dont care if they are green as long as tey do what i know they can do and that is race and win so ill be trying my hardest to win
pjc Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 exactly, but some people seem to focused on colours and not how are they going to perform. Phil
