robbie1 Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 i am looking to purchase some distance pigeons for stock would anyone be able to guide me on the best strain and where to purchase them??
Guest Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 Try looking at the results of the Classic races in the fancy press mate, and go off the results to help you make your own mind up. There are good long distance racers all over the UK. Brian Denney, Chris Gordon, Mr & Mrs Cooper, The Padfield Family, Bob Donaldson, Jock Ellis, to name but a handfull, the list is far too long to note here! Good luck in your quest!
peterpau Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 Hi Mate I have a round of latebreds just hatched. Only 8 in total. These birds have bred up to 3rd sec 10th NFC 500mile on the day. If you can collect from Rugby. No paricular strains they are just expected to fly 600 mile plus. Still waiting for my Palamos pigeons though 751 mile.
jimmy white Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 the bricoux, sions very old breed of pigeons , never here much about them now, but no doubt many modern day pigeons will have this breeding in them
Guest Posted July 7, 2008 Report Posted July 7, 2008 The only fanciers I know who had hem were Sonny Galloway and Derek Towers of Hartlepool. They topped the UNC from Bourges with a Sion called "Phillies Cock!" Don't know whether Sonny still has the lines or not!
pjc Posted July 7, 2008 Report Posted July 7, 2008 The sions had terrific eyes and i'm sure the blood runs through many of the modern day distance family's. Phil
