I take it you are talking about the racing season when you may want to exercise and feed the birds twice per day.

You couldn't get them out at 0530 anyway until high summer. But you could feed them and change their water at that time.

You could let them out when you come home at 2pm., and leave them out as it'll be hens at this time and cocks from around 5pm. So I'd leave them out if possible, and feed again 6/7pm.

i would think 1 good excersize session of an hour would be ok provided you get feed right ( so don't get fat ). you've got to try to turn the fact you have afternoons free to your advantage. for example you'll have time to road train (allthough its expensive)...is your depot on line of flight?...take some to work with drinker & liberate after work. alternatively you could fly a sort of roundabout excersizing cocks & hens seperately for 1 hour each. or let hens fly open hole mornings..shut them up at 2pm get cocks out...then get hens out about 6pm for another fly ( or vice versa ) :)

Fly your old birds on widowhood. Feed (depurative) AM on a tray, PM (w/hood mix) in their boxes. You can have their feed measured out and on the tray before you go to work, if there's no one there to put the tray in the loft in the morning put it in yourself before you go to work. I would exercise them 2-30 till 3-30 early in the season as they'll get the benifit from the warmest part of the day.
