sapper756 Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Due to the constant heavy rainfall, and also taking into consideration the forecast for the remainder of the week, RAIN, not only can fanciers not train,we can not get our birds out, to fly around the loft. Do the fanciers take this into consideration when selecting their team for Saturday, which could be upto 200 miles? Any views welcome, or past experiences :-/
hotrod Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 were at 250 this week( newark) the weather needs to improve a lot , i have one old hen thats not had a race this year yet so she's got to go this week, and a few yearlings that have missed the last two weeks ,so i'll be jumping them 150/170 miles ,hoping to get a good toss tomorrow (65 miles) when its supposed to be better
Guest strapper Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 get them out between the heavier showers...maybe only for 30 mins but it will get the cobwebs out of them, last saturdays race our birds had to come through torrential rain at times and some made it through...maybe flying in the rain might make them better when they come up against it in future races with showers??.
just ask me Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 if they are healthy they go everything that what they are there for well the way i see it anyway
pjc Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 members should take the weather into consideration as the weeks routine is all part of the preperation for the race including excercise and training. But many will still put the birds in anyway just because they don't want to miss a race or lose out on the averages etc etc.
