looking at the wind direction for this weekend it looks like its going to be a tough one, i personally think they have had to many easy races this year (ie) not enough hours on the wing and i think old pigeons will struggle never mind yearlings, hope im wrong, we are at portsmouth 289 mls, whats other members views on this and best of luck to everyone racing this weekend, i think we will need it.

well i think the wind took its toll on the birds yesterday, very gappy returns throughout the federation with a good deal of birds missing up here in cumbria, still some members not got any back yet, it just puts the cap on what you would call a disaterous season for fanciers up here in this neck of the woods, young birds next god knows what will happen  :'( :'(.

dont know what went wrong for the national at eastborne  if it was  the weather  or what its times like these  you wish you could follow them.  at newbury there are still birds returning

and  the effort they put in there says,  IMO  that they where in another country, this looks to be the  same,  France could have  a few,  as eastbourne being coastal  and with some of the  birds   already,  crossed the channel before they might have turned, or maybe  the french race from that area, who knows,

Good day yesterday for preparing for 550+. We've had poor preperation in terms of distance 230 miles max, in two weeks I'll have 3 to 556 and 2 to 708miles. So yesterday was good for some time on the wing my two for Barcelona had 8hrs on the wing, my three for Tarbes had 6/7 hrs. Not ideal would like to have got 350/400 mile in to them a week ago but hey ho

birds never turn home the same now  when you get a stiff wan.

you used tae get your birds all turnin up the next day but only if your luky now.

There must have been more than the north wind to stop them yesterday.

if you look at all the posts up and down the country it either overcast or pourin

way rain.  a lot more than the weather forecast.

If you go back remember YB in early races would go over and then come ack by the end of the day, if they don't come on the day now. They generally don't.

But don't forget the efects of hawks, I've picked up for fanciers in  Worcester, S Wales nad N Ireland this past two weeks birds reported by non fanciers. Each one had been hit by Percy; the one has won several 1st , the second out of winners and the third bred a winner in it's first nest last year!

the hawks have a lot to answer for.  birds get ambushed so many times the end up ruffin it and  also get picked of easy when they are tired . There will be a lot of birds turned in today minuss a few feathers and injuries .  There is a lot more hawks than most people realies
