when starting up...what was your biggest mistake you made?

i cant remember mine... but one was leaving youngbirds too long before having them out for the 1st time ,i was gifted 17 birds to start racing and they were silver toye...but one dark ch cock went on to score well for me,and breed some good card winners...i kept 6 of the 17.

i did similar years a go pete m8...it looked dark and over cast but only a 30 min journey home for them...within 10 mins of lib it pissisted down with thunder and lighning.

i had 14 -30 odd home that night...eventually dropped/lost 9.

a lesson learned .

mine was pushing my best bird to much he had clearly had enough of racing one season but because he had taken so many cards and wins i kept pushing him then one day he didnt return . looking back on my records now i can see each week he was droping down the pecking order back to the loft and had clearly had enough i should of stoped him but throw greed trying to win races i lost him . i still kick my self today and that was back in 1993 lol . it hasnt happened since lol hence why i believe you should keep very good records so you can see the form in the pigeons

losing patience with a latebred i had. Not raced as a Yb i sent him to first OB race and he was my first bird but flew around and around. The winner of the club topped the fed, the cock was 3 mins earlier than the winner plus mile overfly. Second race he came again and did the same but luckily i had another with him and he came straight in and did top the fed. So his first 2 races should been 2 x 1st fed, he should gone stock loft but no, he went to channel which was a stinker never to be seen again.

Getting involved in the first place was the biggest mistake but I have seen a glimps of the light and hope to escape shortly!!

ive seen the light a few times mark ...but someone turned it off just b4 i took that step.

a m8 of mine has restarted 4 times ...lasted 2-3 years then packed in again.

if i finnished id find plenty of things to do that i havent got time for now cos ive got the birds.

biggest mistake was way back flying in the mighty tranent club 52 members we were going for the old bird average took our best bird out to fly rennes (was22nd open with her 6-70000 pigeons  always regretted not sending ti dorchester and maybe getting our name on the trophy

Biggest mistake has always been letting the other type of bird get in the way and distract me from the pigeons.

Other mistake i still make (much to my shame) is going against the first instinct.

Oh and umpulse buying too often  ;D

had pigeons from 13yrs old now 38yrs old, never regretted a day with them, ive always enjoyed having pigeons its my life, made loads of big mistakes, some are listening to other people instead of thinking for myself, others is over training, you will never get true form training too hard and feeding too much on a friday,i dont believe you can over feed a pigeon through the week, and the other is getting told what you should feed and do instead of doing it how you think it should be done, people who win are leaders not followers.
