Guest JonesyBhoy Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Just wondering what the other members of the Feds thoughts were regarding the race programme of the season past, and where the race programme will be from this year.. I think we have all come to terms with the fact that we have to race down the east of England, but do we have to go so far east with the early races..?? Personally i would like to see us race straight down toward Otterburn or there abouts, then follow the eastterly race points down England.. Are Cockenzie and St Boswells teaching our birds, especially young, a good racing line..?? Everyones opinion welcome..
Guest stb- Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 makes no difference where you train them . good uns make there own line ;)

The members of Kirkintilloch have either left the sport or have joined Glasgow fed. :B ps. Nobody is interested in joining Lanarkshire fed anymore, too many knives in back. I personally wouldnt join it now after 10 years of trying

Guest JonesyBhoy Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Fairplay.. whats your thoughts on the original topic..??
Fair Play Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I would personally bin the three Cockenzies as I don't see what purpose they serve other than to train your birds to go to Edinburgh for their holidays numerous fanciers on here has told me that our birds old included all fly towards the Forth Coast then the Campsie Hills down to Glasgow and beyond. Who does that favour? certainly not me. I have no problem flying East but on a much truer line of flight

Fair Play Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Maybe we should go down the old M6 route I don't ever remember our birds heading for the Forth when I raced before with the Glasgow Fed even managed to Top it now can't even get on it :'(. Plus the further East we go in a strong West wind the chances are we should be teaching the birds to swim as they don't seem to be still on land :-/

Dont think they went as far over as the forth but still came from an easterly direction. once the races are out a bit it evens up really ;)
Guest JonesyBhoy Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 From anywhere around the borders you would be hoping for the doos to start heading west as soon as possible.. Is training toward Livingston then racing from Cockenzie not incouraging the doos to head further up the country on the east side before dog legging west.. then of course a westerly wind now becomes a head wind..

A westerly wind will keep the birds up the east side of the pentlands. In an easterly they do come up the opposite side more often and on those days the pigeons in the east come back from the west side more often than not. The wind direction more or less determines the winners , but you always get the exception
