Guest frank dooman Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 raceing would be alot dearer without the big team boys so the more the merrier once they go over the 300ml stage the small team man can beat them every time IF the birds and management is right
schouwman71 Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 8 yearlings and 20 young uns nice 1.
adam owen Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 cant argue with that boys i do like a couple tho much nicer when you win and u got more time with them and theres more pounds in me pocket ;D ;D
just ask me Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 ive done the big team with 44 widowhood cocks and 44 widowhood hens raceing but at the end of the day the same pigeons where winning for me and i can count on them with one hand lol so i might as well be keeping five . now and again you get one fluke a race but when your team is on form you know which one of your birds is going to be there if u dont mind me saying that must have been some work :-/
Guest strapper Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 one thing we can all agree on...in pigeons we will be crying more than we will be laughing ;D one min your up the next your down.
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 i was in partnership with my mate and he is retired we had some fantastic seasons winning 25 firsts then 22 then 27 then 20 then 15 also fed average butwe had certain birds for certain races my pencil gevart would all ways win from eastbourne in a north west wind he ended up with 8 firsts . blue cock had 10 firsts the racist had 7 firsts so you can see the same pigeons won the rest just got fed and would just take minor cards now and again
owen101 Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 nice 1. this will be my first official season last season got gifted a few birds from vallance and i still have 7 of them and one from a club member
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 in 2001 when i raced on my own i had 6 yearling widowhood cocks and these won me 10 firsts but i never sent over 200 miles i only like sprint racing so owen you dont nd big teams mind you that season again two cocks won 4 firsts each so i might as well just raced two lol
owen101 Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 i dont want a big team i wont be seding across the channel or doinf the nationals so i only need a few pigeons the more i get the more it costs so there is no point at the end of the day but will be looking to buy a few different strains of birds to try out in my area for the sprint races
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 yep i think for the sprints you dont nd many you just need qaulity because once a cock hits form hr will win for 4 or 5 weeks
owen101 Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 i had a few tosses with the club last season and they did well thanks vallance for the birds even though i got told he did not think i was how old i said i was lol the birds are brill
Matt D. Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 7 pairs of Old birds raced on the nest. I also have 12 June/July Hatches which have been trained to 100 miles so I'll be sending those to 350 miles. In my experiences, if you ask anyone that has a 50-80 old bird team which are their very best birds they will show you exactly which birds are the birds who they can count on. The birds they will pool every week. Those birds might not win every race but you can almost always count on them to win a decent prize. So if the mob flyers know which are their best, why fly the rest?
Jeams Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 quallity not quantity in my eyes The more qualified pigeons you have, more chance you will win the game,am i right?
