Guest Grasshopper Lofts Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 can any one tell me if an electric fence can be put on the roof of my loft and is this a good price http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ELECTRIC-FENCING-STARTER-KIT-3FT-GREEN-FENCE-POSTS_W0QQitemZ310204872653QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item4839a6b7cd thanks
Guest Owen Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 To be honest, I would buy the things I want seperately. Then you will have exactly what you need. And I would prefer a mains fencer than a battery one, if it is practical. Then you will not run the risk of forgetting to change or recharge the batteries. The best way to stop the cats climbing onto the roof is to use "L" shaped wooden brackets screwed to the loft sides near the top and fit screw on insulators to them. The brackets need to be about 12" out from the loft so that the cats will have to contact them. If you are concerned, you can fit 4 insulators to each bracket, making a cat proof barrier. You can even make your brackets longer if you want to. But, the best cat proofer is when you have the fencer fitted up all around your loft area. It will take less than one day to teach the cats that they can not cross. Problem solved.
