Guest Taylors Choice Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 The label says "drinking water sanitisation" and gives the directions for use. It also says "cleans & disinfects in one operation" and "specially formulated to clean & disinfect equipment - buckets, crates, drinkers, hatcheries, benhces, working utensils" and also "broad spectrum kills bacteria, fungi, and viruses which cause major diseases in livestock and domestic pets" also used for "Aerial disinfection and disinfection of clean surfaces and equipment" Hope that helps

Blue Tooner Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 Great stuff, it has cleared up yb/sickness for us no problem, but we spotted symptoms early. Have a bottle at our disposal at all times.
Guest IB Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 Used it for many years, it's an iodine-based disinfectant which is the only disinfectant advertised for use in drinking water as a water sanitiser. Colour coded, so that provided you have an iodine-colour, you know it's still active. Goes a long long way, 1 part vanodine to 1500 parts water, 1 x 500ml? bottle £8? lasted 3/4 years and I used it to disinfect our club's race baskets up until 2008. Back to Virkon S from 2009, its lot dearer, £2 sachet makes 5 gallons. Don't be misled into thinking it 'kills' bugs inside the pigeon - it doesn't.
mac1 Posted February 5, 2009 Author Report Posted February 5, 2009 just wondering how often would you put it in the drinking water :-/
Wifela Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 Iodine from chemist about £1 abottle 2/3 drops in drinker twice aweek will do same. Used it for years
Guest IB Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 just wondering how often would you put it in the drinking water :-/ I only ever used it once in the drinking water - I'd been told I'd a respiratory problem in the birds. Mostly used as a disnifectant to spray feeders 2/3 times a week, and baskets before fresh shavings etc.
