DJ Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 ive got my chlorcarb in post today from aviform and im gonna dip my birds in the solution tmoro but when people say dip do they mean up to the neck only or do u go up to the neck and then dip their heads under the solution for a couple of seconds :-/ on the packet it just states what strength to mix it to and other safety info such as being poisonous to cats and fish etc but thats it? im thinking that if i dip their heads that it could/would damage their eyes but also i want to make sure that the treatment is effective has anyone else used chlorcarb from aviform and how did they administer it? debbie :-/

vanlink Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 Yes i did mine up to neck only, do not see point in doing head as well, Then when i had done all the birds i put solution left into sprayer and sprayed whole loft. Fantastic stuff.
Dodgy Trapper Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 Regarding clearing lice from the birds, is there a cheap way of doing this, ie a cheap product from local shops you can use. Would be interested in how other fanciers keep birds feathers clean.
jimmywylie Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 dont know if theres any truth in this one ,but i heard putting garlic cloves in the bath water does the trick :-/ i use chlorcarb .
Dodgy Trapper Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 I used to put TCP in their bath water, was thinking that dipping them in this would do the trick. I do remember feathering felt nice and smooth when the bathed in it,(not too much in the water). They used to drink it aswell Trouble would be i would stink of the stuff if i dipped them?.
Guest strapper Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 i found chlorcarb to be fairly cheap £5.95..for the trouble that lice do...and the thought of your club m8s handling your birds and get lice over them...remember this will keep lice off your birds for a 12month....and to make it better your m8s can use it on their birds too after youve done yours. i use it on all my stock and race birds...such a simple thing to use.
