Guest joshdonlan Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Im looking to worm my birds with the poor on ivermectin. Should 1 drop of a pipette on the back of the neck do it? Do i part the feathers and put it directly onto the skin or what? Thanks in advance
pigeonpete Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Thats it mate, make sure it goes direct on skin, and deffo no more than a tiny drop ;-) back of the neck
Guest grizzler Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 hi m8, i part the feathers at the base of the neck and put one drop on.should keep them clean for abot 6 months....it will kill any lice as well. steve... :)
Guest Hjaltland Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 In the past i've dabbed it with a cotton bud on the bare breast skin... works just fine and the birds are clear of insect life for months.
Novice Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Has it been proven that this clears worms if poured on. I was once told by a prominent Vet that it would only clear worms if ingested---i.e. swallowed.
Tony C Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Ivermectin on the back of the neck isn’t 100% effective against worms.
gd Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 I just drop a drop down their throat - not killed any yet
pigeonpete Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 I just drop a drop down their throat - not killed any yet and does it still keep the mites away?
gd Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 not had any mites but use as a preventative - guess it works

Permeates the skin and enters birds bloodstream, so reaches all parts, including the guts.
