Quill mite means a different mite to me, and its hard to get rid of.

 

Syringophilus gets through the quill wall, and lives inside it, beneath the level of the birds skin. Its mouthparts are shaped like a syringe needle, it sticks that through the quill wall into the pulpy sublayers  of the skin, and sucks from it.

 

Adult female gives birth to a single live juvenile.  

 

Ivermectin should get rid of it, but fipronil is said to be better.

 

Not a lot published out there on this mite.

 

Spray yer bird wi powder, put it in a box for the night, that ill get rid owe the internall quill mite,

i have been putting it on the skin.ive never put it in the mouth wonder if it will be more effective i hear fanciers do it this way :-/

never put it in birds mouth,always put a drop on the base of the neck....and always worked for me ;)
