most mineral blocks/pickstones contain salt, the birds like it but will only effect them if they gorge themselves after not having it readily available for a while.

Keep a couple of hedgehogs in yer garden, they fix the little bliters out, we have 3 running aboot at night, also the wife feeds them cat biscuits, so they keep coming back every night.

Dont put salt onto them, it makes a bloody mess around the garden.  :)

Got slug cups from the pet shop, filled them up with good beer, went out next morning, nowt, waste of bloody good beer, then noticed the hedgehogs running around hissing at one another, cheaper buying cat buiscuits to keep them in the garden.  ;)

B e very careful when putting salt in your loft if the birds have not had any for a while, some will gorge on it and kill themselves.

Introduce the salt in small quantities at first once they have it in their systems they should be ok and not over eat it.

The big one is a cockerel  ;D but I get about 250 a year off each of the two cross silkie hens

The Rhode island reds lay 300+

The black rocks lay about 300

Pekin bantams are too broody but they raise great chicks :)
