Hi

Im once again down to my last one, but have now built up a large collection of the clay pots. Can i buy just the mixture and is it cheaper this way? If so what is it called? Is it just pink minerals made into a cake?

Thanks

Would matrix make an ideal replacement?

Does it replace everything? By everything i mean grits, pink and black minerals etc?

I like Matrix must admit did prefer the Pronagrit but the exchange rate pushed the price up on that.

I use matrix but also tend to use the Rohnfried picking stones also and alternate them about a little.

Do you have a link to Pronagrit Vallance? I cant find it on Taylors Choice.

Not sure of anywhere that does it now mate i used to get it from Geoff Clare who in turn collected it from Holland (i think, Belg if not)

Matrix is just as good though and easily sourced.

I did try another one called Jon'z Pigeon supplement it was meant to be much better than Matrix and Pronagrit but jury remains out for me on that.

Cheers Vallence. Just found a thread about Matrix and it sounds like everything the birds need just mixed into 1 with a big price tag. I may buy 1 tub and give it a go and think about making my own  :-/

Buying pickstone in a clay pot isn't the cheapest way. It's OK if you need gallipots, not so good if you want  pickstone in quantity. The potted stuff I've seen is red-coloured and (I think) appears coarser as if it is based on broken brick rather than clay. The cakes contain at least twice the pot measure, are brown coloured, and clay-based.
