0pensaysme Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 I've been noticing that one of my modena's had diarrhea. The colour is fine and i can see that it eating and the weight is ok (could be a bit heavier). Theres so many products out there i'm not sure what to choose, although i would prefer to use a natural remedy - ie garlic I was planning to give them worm tablets all this weekend. Can you please advise as i'm a novice. Saj
THE FIFER Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 i would seperate it from ur other birds, and would not give it worming tablets until u fix othe ailment, have u changed ur feeding etc, make sure it gets water feeding would not matter for a couple of days,
Fair Play Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 Give it a teaspoon of flat Coca Cola three times a day
0pensaysme Posted January 31, 2008 Author Report Posted January 31, 2008 have u changed ur feeding etc? I've changed to a better food mix that does not contain loads of wheat. Faire Pay - how many days should i give the coke? My mate gave me "old hand's" White Sesqui for going light. Last summer. Should i use it?
Guest shadow Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 not if they are not losing weight you could try feeding an electrolyte from the chemist if your feed had a lot of wheat in it this could have caused the loose droppings
Guest IB Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 Could be down to a change of feeding - I'd be inclined to isolate the pigeon and give either garlic (first choice) or cider vinegar in the drinking water, and just keep an eye on it for 48-72 hours. Would expect droppings to return to normal by then.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 Give it a teaspoon of flat Coca Cola three times a day what does this do ?
ALF Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 Give it a teaspoon of flat Coca Cola three times a day Try this as i know that it works on humans so has to be worth a try on pigeons ;) 8) 8) 8)
Fair Play Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 Got that straight from the vet a number of years ago when i took the dog to get a check up she had a really bad case of the runs and bleeding I thought he was kidding but told me then it worked on humans, animals and birds just get rid of the gas. Feed till droppings start to firm up and keep on light feed - nothing that's hard to digest.
DOVEScot Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 Give it a teaspoon of flat Coca Cola three times a day This definately works on humans, never thought about using it on pigeons. 1990 = Bulgaria = Goolash = toilet bound =3 days on flat coke ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! :'( :'( :'(
Fair Play Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 And an ill wind swept over the continent ;D ;D ;D
0pensaysme Posted January 31, 2008 Author Report Posted January 31, 2008 Right i'll give the coke a try for 3 days, wait 2 days and then if that didn't work i'll try the vinegar. Failing the above should i try the old hand medicine?
Guest slugmonkey Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 Are you feeding grit ? wheat will definatly give runs shouldnt be more than 10% max do droppings have worse odor than usual ?
