Guest karl adams Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 i have a small team of old birds in 1 of my lofts they look very fit but they seem to be hungry all the time they have got corn but still put wings up as if they are hungry when i go in to the loft what could be wrong
hepste Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 Karl, the most obvious simple answer is worms. Have you thought about getting the droppings checked?
Guest strapper Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 hi karl. it maybe that ur birds have a worm problem(not saying they have just an observation)if they are hungry and are fed well then it very much sounds like ive said..nothing serious, but it may reduce ur chances of winning. GET A DROPPINGS TEST DONE!
REDCHEQHEN Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 I've never seen old birds put their wings up - as if hungry (like youngsters do) If they were hungry they wouldn't exercise very well - how long are they doing around the loft ? You've got a microscope haven't you Karl? You will be able to check the droppings yourself
Guest karl adams Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 i have checked the droppings at least 4 times this week and no worms there they have slite coci but thats all the birds are stock and are not let out
thunderboult Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 i have a couple of stock cocks that do that, i think it's them just showing off/making themselves look bigger(like you do when your kids)lol
Lennut Tar Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 dare i suggest they like you This could be so ;D ;D ;D. why not now !!!!!!!!!!, just put them on hoppers for a few days etc to see if that makes a difference, & if it doesn't ?????????? it may pay to change there feed to a different batch or grain. Enjoy.
jimmy white Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 i have a small team of old birds in 1 of my lofts they look very fit but they seem to be hungry all the time they have got corn but still put wings up as if they are hungry when i go in to the loft what could be wrong if [and just if ] these birds are worked to extremes , they will become depleted in glycogen levels, and would tend to be hungry most of the time, trying to build this back up,,,,,,,,,,,if they look vey fit , i wouldnt say it was worms ,as to be eating to this extent but still looking ok ,would not be the norm for worms , the birds would most cerainly not look fit, and their droppings would certainly not be" right" i should hopper feed these birds, and get their droppings tested and if no worms or cocci,,,,rest
