pigeonscout Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Yes 'cocci' the plural of coccus i rest my case coccidiosis is what they cause they poison the blood causing the infection and can cause fatallitys by poisoning the blood So you are now saying that when you first said cocci you meant coccus and not Coccidiosis that we all refer to as cocci in the pigeon sport. Your having a laugh.
OLDYELLOW Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 believe what you want mate its you that are having a laugh i was trying to help , but then again my birds arent ailing and free from disease its down to management and the birds constitution and regulary testing them and not believing in magic potions and running for medicine bottles .
pigeonscout Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 not believing in magic potions and running for medicine bottles . That is good advice and I agree with you 100%
LISTER Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 burn you loft dose not mean burn it to the ground it means get a buner and burn the boxs and floor this will remove all living bugs in the dropings this is for LISTER yes got it mate check thread 26 i did say sorry :B :B
Roland Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Yes Blow torch the loft, regularly etc. will never go a miss. Prevention is always far better than cure. Sanitation is a constant must. Indeed, means treatment is very seldom used.
Sajfos Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 nittin vi , There are many circumstances / events which could cause the Green Droppings , worth considering before jumping to conclusions . 1/ Did the Birds miss a meal or two ? 2/ Could a pair be driving to nest so determinedly they miss feeding ? 3/ Could they be prevented from feeding ? 4/ Sudden change of Feed ? 5/ Try feeding 100% Peas for a couple of meals & note any improvement ? If You are certain the above do not apply then You probably have a Health issue & are best advised to have tests carried out immediately by a Qualified Avian Vet , inform the Clinic about any products / medications or new Stock You may have introduced , the situation in the Loft , pairing , driving , laying or feeding Young , etc as some medications will affect the Breeding / Fertility temporarily . Sometimes an Electrolyte Solution will bring about a change immediately . You need to collect droppings BEFORE begining any Medication to prevent masking an accurate result . Best Wishes , Steve....
Roland Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Well just had a look at the birds droppings. the more enclosed are still more greenny than the ones out in the airvery. The snow and wind is nipping through, but they just move inside when they like, and the droppings are turning more firmer and browner... The others are all now getting firmer and looking like droppings and little round balls with a mite of white. So of course their droppings cahnge. So would your's. Don't see a queue every day day at the doctors because our droppings are different do we! Too much crap, and crass scenarios are placed on droppings. Better by far to just go in and stand in door way. Then quietly look at the birds and pay attention to their eye! This will tell you straight off if any are how ailments, or need a further look at and to be handled!
Guest joshdonlan Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 True, you can tell if your birds are well by looking at them and spending time with them. I think too much emphisis is placed on the droppings.
merrysilver Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Get a droppings test done as soon as possible and that will let you know what you need to treat for. If you can get your hands on a blow torch then go over your loft floor and perches, this will kill any cocci eggs and keep doing this until birds droppings have firmed up.
hotrod Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 One thing i have noticed over the years is birds that dont get out during the winter and dont get any GRIT sometimes do have an occasional green coloured droping give them grit and it goes away.
