Sire A x Dam B

Produced hen C – Scored twice – including 1st club, 2nd Fed

Sire D x Dam E

Produced hen F – scored 3 times (2 x 2nds – beaten by loft mates and a 5th, 2 fed cards this year – 3rd & 12th)

We have Sire A and Dam E (We don’t have Dam B or Sire D)

Should these be paired together?

We have a son of Sire D when paired paired to hen C

Would this be a better option paired to Dam E

(sorry if I have confused you all LOL !!)

and I haven't a clue what we're going to pair to Hen C or Hen F !!

(evil) Now you've confused me LOL !!

Hen F was beaten by hen C in a 392 miles channel race (by 1 minute)

But hen C beat Hen F in a 317 miles race in 2008

Both hen C and hen F were beaten by another hen in the 317 miles race (we were 1st, 2nd & 3rd)

but because this other hen topped the fed inland this year she wasn't sent over the channel to the longer races

since we went on roundabout we have not had any winning cocks - only hens

C and F are not related

Are you saying to pair Hen C back to her father?

Hello Redcheq,

To begin with what is your purpose for wanting to pair these pigeons and their offspring together?

Is it to try and breed birds to race or birds to put into your stock loft to breed from in the future?

Are you trying to line breed down from Sire A and the son of Sire D or are you just experimenting?

As well as taking into account the breeding capabilities of the birds you have available you also need to look at the physical attributes and make-up of them also(in terms of shape, feather quality, size etc) and try and match these to produce the type of bird you are looking for.

Hope this is of some help

I didn't particularly want to pair related pigeons together.

I suppose you could say it's an experiment - as that is all our breeding seems to have been to date.

Sire A is a prisoner stock bird - and is only filling 50% of eggs - he also has no hen at the moment.

We have 3 pairs of prisoner stock that are old - and a friend is taking them to help us out and give him an interest - we are putting some of the racers to stock, so eventually they will all be able to fly out

Personally, I think this is a great time of the year when you are faced with months of mental games making up next years pairings. Like previous post states, think it helps if you know why? you want to pair certain birds.

Stock birds that breed winners, albeit with different partners, would be my number 1 priority for breeding - so for me A & E are a must pairing. You are trying to breed more winners.

Son of D when paired with C; you do not say if the bird has scored, but for me his mate would be hen F. For me this would be first stage of blending two winning lines, by pairing offspring of Line 1 with offspring of Line 2.
