duncandoo Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 check the feeding you are using make shure it is not mouldy then check in the loft for mouse droppings
duncandoo Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 vets are very expensive and are not usually needed if we can find the cause we can cure it he will get plenty of help here
robbie1 Posted June 28, 2009 Author Report Posted June 28, 2009 theres no mice droppings at all the corn is fine no mould, the only problem i think could have caused this is i get a few street pigeons hanging around a lady a few doors down feeds them and about the time my problem started i noticed 3 or 4 of them on my stock loft aviary would there droppings have caused this if it dropped through top of my aviary??
Merlin Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 Definitely do as redcheqhen suggested, consult a Vet right away,he will diagnose and treat accordingly,at best with any one else, although intentions are good ,its only guesswork. Hope ya get it sorted soon.
robbie1 Posted June 28, 2009 Author Report Posted June 28, 2009 yes all old birds were done end of march including stock and young birds beggining of may
duncandoo Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 if you want to go down the line of using a vet it is better to send a bird to the specialist pigeon boys like tom pennycot at auchencruive in ayrshire as your vet will do this and charge you extra for it
Guest Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 HAVE YOU WORMED THEM,HAIRWORM WILL MAKE THEM LOSE THERE BODY BUT THE BEST THING TO DO IS GET A TEST DONE
dooobessed Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 call smith regionsy lofts and ask him tae gae ye a 4 in 1 mix
pjc Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 maybe before actualy sending a bird to an avian vet then send droppings and swabs for testing as this would be a lot cheaper than sending a bird and may give you the results you need to be able to administer the correct medication.
Guest IB Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 When it has reached the stage of birds dying, you really need to see a good avian vet. Meanwhile try and contain the spread by cleaning & disinfecting using any household bleach that you might have, they are usually sodium hypochlorite based. Dilute and spray on all surfaces. Any bird that looks suspect, isolate it and get something acidic in all drinking water - anything like household vinegar, lemon juice, cider vinegar at 5ml (teaspoonful) to 1 litre of water. Or if you can get hold of garlic, peel & crush a bulb into each drinker, mash & all, and let them drink it dry over next few days, or until you see a vet. My own thoughts are that the aviary is suspect, if I read your post correctly, the roof is not closed, you get rain & everything else through there so the floor is maybe always damp? If so its a breeding ground for bugs - get neat disnifectant on that floor and keep the birds out till you get a covered roof & the floor dries out properly.
leighton1984 Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 do not waste your time go to avian vet. this is a must when you have birds that are not right do not give this or that they need the right drugs to make them better . how can flyers on here tell some one else what to give when they have not seen his birds ? sorry if some do not like what i have to say but the right drugs at the right time.
