pigeonpete Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 Keep it away from the others straight away!!! Could it have knocked it? is it on a joint? is lump solid or puss filled? Could be paratyphoid, any history?
Dod Posted February 9, 2010 Author Report Posted February 9, 2010 there is fluid in it i was going to pop it but didnt want to hurt it,this is my first time breeding so im not sure what paratyphoid looks like all my other ybs are fine and so are the old birds.

REDCHEQHEN Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 if its a protein lump what should i do? Leave it alone as it will dry up and drop off without any interference

Dod Posted February 9, 2010 Author Report Posted February 9, 2010 ill try and get a pic up its on the shoulder of the pigeon if that makes sence.
Dod Posted February 9, 2010 Author Report Posted February 9, 2010 Where on the wing?if you open up the wing its where your thumb is.
bullcock Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 I had this once it looked purple in colour as if it was full of blood, I tied a piece of fishing line tight around it and it fell off itself and the bird never showed any sign of discomfort.
Guest Jargre- Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 Calcium build up if hard at knuckle, soft? = possible cyst, treatment = nothing it will go hard or drain istelf.
TREBLE D Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 i have never seen a protein boil on a pigeon so young, if the lump is on the joint of the wing and has fluid in i would take no chances and dispose of the bird sooner the better, jmo

DOVEScot Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 sure is and why can't younger birds ave these type of lumps? This was a young bird

TREBLE D Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 it is a protein boile and it is the first i have ever seen on a bird so young, learn somthing new everyday as the saying goes,
