holmsidelofts Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 white one of the right is effect by twisted neck, others are not they have been together, what ever the white one has the others will have shortly, It could either be PMV or salmonella as doth can cause the twisted kneck syndrome. as others have said the best cure is the bin otherwise everything will get.

Guest Freebird Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 order for execution.. Mamun, Yes you must euthanize (execute) these birds and dis-infect, sterilize all cages and start again. Some simple advice bearing in mind you are a complete novice and I am using English language is :Try to find someone with healthy birds. Look at the birds feathers, are they clean? Has it got bright, shiny, clean eyes? Is the wattle (soft white part at top of beak) clean and white? Hold the bird and feel its keel and breast (body) should have some meat either side of keel bone and breast. Open the wing and release, it should close fully and not hang down (some breed types have hanging wings). Do not take birds that have very dirty feathering, dull or watery eyes, dirty wattle, no or little meat on keel and breast, hanging down wing unless you know it is a breed with this characteristic. Save your money on buying hawkers rubbish and don't buy until you are satisfied with all above points. Good luck, I'm sure you will find nice healthy birds soon.

Guest strapper Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 file the twisted neck ones under B.I.N..get droppings checked for the others. if paramixo...vaccinate straight away..do not vaccinate those that show signs of it.

Twist it further.
Guest IB Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 As others say, all the birds in the cage have been exposed to the sick pigeon, so are likely to come down with the same illness, whatever that illness might be, as there are a number which show this symptom. Don't buy from that hawker again. Buy only from people you trust and then only when the birds offered are healthy. Can you get hold of disinfectant? Wash & disinfect places where the birds in the cage have been, and everything thy have had acces to to eat & drink.
WulDon Posted March 21, 2010 Report Posted March 21, 2010 vaccinate all your pigeons for PMV as soon as you can, it wouldnt do no harm to vaccinate for paratyphoid also a lot of top lofts in UK now dont introduce from other lofts because of these two diseases, and we most certainly vaccinate to prevent cross contamination when racing
