pault Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 HARKERS PIGEON LOFT TREATMENT IS AS GOOD Loft Treatment is a dry disinfectant, which inhibits the spread of disease-causing organisms, which are often spread via the droppings. Loft Treatment is not a lime or chalk based product, which can dry the natural oils on the pigeons plummage and take away vital condition. Loft Treatment is compatible with all systems and should be sprinkled lightly on the nesting and perching areas, paying particular attention to any damp patches which are usually the danger areas in pigeon lofts. Loft Treatment is a pleasant smelling, finely divided powder which incorporates a powerful quaternary ammonium biocidal agent. When spread as a dressing, bacteria are held in Loft Treatments highly absorbent matrix and efficiently neutralised. Loft Treatment is available in 1.8kg shaker packs and 10kg bulk packs. CHEERS PAUL
Back garden fancier Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 Been using the Harkers loft white this season, will carry on. Keeps perches dry and makes them easier to scrape off. Smells nice too.
Guest Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 Nearing the end of my second 10kg bucket of Harkers Loft Treatment which I've been using for best part of 1 year now, after changing from Stalosan use for best part of 3 years.. Agree with both posts but after having my birds diagnosed with 'a touch of cocci' during the OB racing, the Quaternary Ammonium Compounds in Loft Treatment obviously failed in killing all cocci oocysts in the loft shed by my birds ..... Whole point of using a floor dressing is to kill anything that comes out of the bird so that it cannot go on to re-infect others in the loft if they ingest it. Interrupting the life cycle outside the bird - the safest place to do it - is another way of preventing disease getting hold in the loft.. So back to Stalosan for me, once cocci'd is one too many for me ;D
DOVEScot Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 just bought a 25kg bag on ebay for £30.95 inc delivery, also avian supplies perth sell it, can't remember the price though
Mike Lycett Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 I do believe I was the first one to ever use Stalosan. Met a guy called Earl Williams who wanted me to trial it - I then wrote about it in BHW.
