coey Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 hi all. i have got a yearling cock that has just started to pair up. i have it locked in a box with the hen. i just noticed the cock doesn't seem able to stand up. i put it on the floor and it flapped its wings to move away. is this serious?
Guest j.bamling Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 It sounds like it could be vitimin - mineral defincey put him in his box with a pot of minerals and a small amount of grit it only takes 1 day 2 at the most to come right

Guest j.bamling Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 its best to lock them in the box as if they get on the floor the other cocks can bully him , Just lock him in with his pot of minerals etc a couple of brewers yeast tablets down his throat and a cod liver oil capsual does them no harm either and just waith and see him tomorrow you should see an improvement but it might take till the next day to come right

Coey, glad to see that the bird is better thats the main thing. Take no notice of Timbarra's post, it must be great to know everything. One of the main things i learnt about birds is be vigilant and not to panic when birds get ill. A lot affects these athletes of ours and in a sound healthy enviroment they usually pull thru. And carry om asking away for every idiot there is 10 good willing to help fanciers on these forums.

Fair Play Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 Even the "Best" ask questions - It's like serving an apprenticeship you don't take it all in until you become a journeyman. Ignore the rubbish some people spout there are genuine fanciers on here willing to help.
